Ryan O'Neal on Oscar Snub -- 'Poor Farrah'

3/8/2010 8:03 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Ryan O'Neal is "confused as anyone" by Farrah Fawcett not making the In Memorium cut at The Oscars last night -- and he plans on writing a letter to the Academy protesting the snub.

Ryan O'Neal: Click to watch
Moments ago outside his Malibu home, Ryan told cameras he and Tatum were "shocked" by the Farrah omission -- saying maybe it happened because "she wasn't well known enough."

FYI -- 88% of TMZ voters agree Farrah should have been part of the tribute.

It's just unfortunate it wasn't Ryan himself among the dead...but here's the deal. Farrah made a movie with JEFF BRIDGES, who was practically canonized up there, so....yeah, she should have been on the list. I don't remember what movies Bea Arthur made but I can immediately think of three Farrah was in...

still, the Academy makes the decision, and they can't include everyone. Michael jackson? well, he made "The Wiz" riqht? I'm not sure he belonged up there. His biggest movie was posthumous.

Ryan O'Neal will say anything to bring attention to himself. He needs to concentrate on how he's going to snort up all of Redmond's inheritance once Redmond's prison husband is finished butt jabbing him upon his release.

Out of all honesty...both Farrah and MJ should not be mentioned at the Oscars for various reasons. And with this MJ stuff, it's really, really, really old. I bet last year, 90% of the Academy thought MJ was a pedophile and a freak, but now that he's dead he's a saint? And $250,000,000 for a bunch of concert footage is ridiculous. It's crazy MJ fans that pay the money to see this crap which keeps supporting the rest of the Jackson clan. *shivers*

I agree. They featured some writers/directors that no one ever heard of. They also had Jennifer Jones, who had not appeared in a movie in over half a century.

Although the bulk of her work was television, she did appear in a few motion pictures like Sunburn and Logan's Run in the late seventies.

Ms. Fawcett starred in the Burning Bed movie and was praised by critics for her wonderful acting. The Burning Bed rewritten as a play and produced on Broadway starring... yes... Ms. Fawcett. Again, critics and reviews were 5 stars for her acting. She will be missed.

I wonder if Farrah was snubbed because of the debacle in 1978 when she didn't show up for rehearsals, then made a mess of her Oscar presenting gig during the live show. Could the Academy's head honchos have long memories?

I am appalled that Farrah was left out. People recognizing Farrah was not mentioned, speaks multitudes...therefore, she was not left out.
She was a Star in her own right. A Household Name.
But I think she would tell us, that it does not matter now, she knew she was loved by her family and friends,..and thats what matters to her now, she knew she was a Class Act Actress.
Fear Not....Farrah`s Star Shines Brighter Than The Rest Of Them...All Put Together-For Eternity.

She should have been part of the tribute. The oscars are a bunch of idiots anymore. I didn't watch. I got the highlights from TMZ.

Even though Farah was not in the silver screen, she made it big on television and became an icon and a household name globally.

Her omission in the Academy's "In Memoriam" is a stupid move. She and BEA ARTHUR must have been in the montage segment, period. Whoever in the Academy who thought of scrapping them off should be shot in the head. What a huge mistake.

I, myself, do not even know those people they paid respects to in the said montage. How would you account for that?

I would like to respond to #'s 2,6,12,16,22,33,38 & 157!
What planet are you living on and what are you smokin? According to all of you, Farrah isn't worthy to be honored in the Memoriam segment of the Oscars and Michael Jackson is! For what? grabbing his crotch while singing. Please refer to #53: YOU BLOOMING IDIOTS!!!
