Macy Gray Accused of $43,000 Publicity StuntMacy Gray didn't try to hide it, but it's clear -- the "I Try" singer is in deep with a collection agency ... and it's all because she allegedly stiffed her publicity firm over $43,000.

According to docs filed last week in L.A. County Superior Court, Gray entered into a $2,000/month contract with a PR firm back in 2005 and racked up a $43,378.77 bill ... which she refused to pay.

The collection agency wants her to pay every cent, stat. So far, no word from Gray's reps.

All of you are ignorant, uneducated, and thoughtless. Go back to the days of Nina Simone, Billy Holiday, and Sarah Vaughan. Macy is one of the ONLY remaining singers that continues to bring that style. Her voice is vintage.
