Chris Brown Breaks Down Crying During MJ Tribute

6/28/2010 3:00 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

After about four minutes of some of the best Michael Jackson inspired dancing you will see, Chris Brown broke down crying on stage during the BET Awards tonight.

The waterworks start around 4:30 mark if that's what you're into -- but seriously, his dance routine before that was amazing.

He started crying right as he got to the "Man in the Mirror" portion of the medley. Coincidence?

Coincidence?
Why do you ask? Did Michael Jackson punch out little skinny girls also?

I don't know why Chris Brown broke down. But it was sad. Whatever the reason, Michael Jackson would have done the classy thing and held him up and held him high. He had put a lot of work into his performance and he did a damned good job of honoring Michael. There are probably millions of people still mourning and missing Michael Jackson. I don't know why Chris Brown wouldn't be among them.

really?

MJ had such a unique body frame that everyone else looks a bit clumbsy and less fluid than MJ, no matter how good they dance. MJ just had that magic. The dance moves came from himself; he wasn't simulating someone else.

The only thing that was "sad" about Chris Brown breaking down was the fact that Michael wasn't there to do the performance instead.

CHRIS BROWN IS CRYING OVER HIS DEAD CAREER. Michael has nothing to do with it

Totally agree!! MJ practiced day & night & night day, he would tape his rehersals then do it again.

To me, it sounded like Chris Brown was tired from dancing & when it got to his chance to sing, he couldn't do it, his voice wasn't there because he was out of breath, so he started crying - not because he was verklempt, but because he blew it.

he did amazing, the dancing was beautiful and when he started to break down you could tell it was real and heartfelt his performance came from the heart and who ever didnt feel it, has no heart. all you idiots that are commenting "dont forgive him" or "it was fake" -- look at yourself in mirror and call your self perfect because you probably are perfect and you've never made mistakes and never been forgiven, idiots. anywho he did amazing and i hope ppl can just focus on his amazing talent singing and dancing :)

Chris did well, but watching that you have to remember what a friggin' genius MJ was. He was so fluid and in control. He was the dance and the dance was he.

I definitely think the message of the song itself probably got to him. Combine that with the high emotions of the tribute and you get a breakdown. People that didn't know Michael at all wept at his passing, so why not Chris Brown? MJ had to have been an inspiration to him in some way. How could he not be for anybody trying to make it in the music industry? His music touched millions, and I'm sure Chris Brown was included in that.

I didn't find it contrived. I really think he had an honest emotional moment and I think it was touching.
