JetBlue Memo -- Steven Slater Was Reckless

8/10/2010 7:25 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

UPDATE 6:45PM PDT: Slater's $2500 bail was posted, and law enforcement sources tell us he left the jail within the last 15 minutes.

TMZ has obtained an internal memo emailed to JetBlue inflight crew members, making it perfectly clear -- the airline is pissed at Steven Slater.

According to the memo ... before Slater went into high-drama mode, the plane was already parked, attached to the jetway and the passengers were in the process of deplaning.  According to the memo, sent by Vicky Stennes, VP of Inflight Experience, "...the forward service door was purposely re-armed and the slide intentionally deployed, endangering lives and equipment."

The memo goes on:  "Some media outlets are portraying yesterday's event as a humorous example of what individuals may consider doing at a point in their careers -- walking off the job in a very public fashion.  However ... deploying a slide is a forceful event and yesterday's deployment endangered, and could have severely injured or even killed."

The memo also offers crew members counseling ... we're guessing it's not about deploying the slide.

He lost it and should get professional help. Something had been building up in him emotionally, his outburst was out of character for him because he had been a flight attendent for a long time.
"SHOULD BE PROFESSIONALLY EVALUATED"
Losing his job will only compounds his problem.
Hope he is not suicidal, needs to be evaluated.
Wish him well.

"Vicky" sounds like a real piece of work. Yes, "Vicky", it was slightly humorous, and even slightly inspiration to all of us who have been humiliated in the last 3 years, working demeaning, low paying jobs, and being asked as adults to put up with the kind of treatment we wouldn't have stood for as 16 year old. We have all HAD IT. And most of us wish we could follow Steven Slater down that chute and buy him a beer afterward.

This memo is the most heartless, corporate grand-standing, disloyal, sickening drivel I've ever read. "Vicky" has even managed to plant some Jet Blue promotion in amongst her condemnation of the disturbed Mr Slater (para 4 and 7). Forget he's just been assaulted by a passenger, forget that your staff are human beings. The almighty profit figure is all that counts! So much for the Land of the Free.

We should totally condone actions such as these, because lord knows we all get stressed and irritated with people. Heck we should let him FLY the plane, he's such a hero.

Fu ck that, he's a whiny bi tch, who threw a temper tantrum, then recklessly opened the slide. All we know is that he opened the slide, we weren't there, we don't know if they were fully stopped or if they were still moving. We don't know for a fact someone hit him, hell they could have accidentally stepped on his toe and he flipped. I see no 'ouchie' on the poor babies head.

If this guy is your hero, I don't think anyone could say anything that wuold make you have any ethics.
Let's see if the airline has the balls to sue and the law has the balls to hold him accountable.
Probably not.
Just a guess.

"...offers crew members counseling"?!?! For what?!?! My parents served in World War 2 and my brother in Vietnam - none of them had counseling - they seem to have come out unscathed. Counseling for this?! Unreal!

I took a cheap bus ride from NYC to Philadelphia with no bathroom on it. The bus was full of undesirables and NO ONE caused any trouble.
The reason? Because there was no ATTENDANT giving out sodas or drinks.
People become obnoxious if they have a scapegoat to batter, otherwise known as a flight attendant.

This guy is no hero. If he had done what he was hired to do and kept his cool and called ahead to security, they would have done their job and the passenger would have been arrested. It's distubing that ignorant people are defending him. In additon, he endangered the lives of the passengers. Thankfully, there are many other flight attendants who can and do handle their job.

JetBlue ought to fire their PR firm. They are making all the wrong choices. For one thing, why are they protecting the identity of the rude traveler that started all this? Sure, Slater was a bit of drama queen, but I think he had an authentic "Howard Beale" moment. And I bet that a number of us, myself included, see him as some kind of metaphor for our upside down world where everyday seems to be "opposite day".

And to the 'nanny types' that hysterically go on about how "someone could have gotten injured". Well sure, and an airplane could crash into your house tonight. In case you didn't notice, no one was injured so STFU.

And to JetBlue, I fly a lot, but I won't fly you! (hey, that rhymes! I guess I'm a poet but didn't know it)

There goes my Hero... This guy did what every hospitality worker wants to do every day, multiple times. At least he didn't kill anyone or go Rambo on the rude biddy.
