Glenn Shadix -- famous for playing Otho the interior decorator in "Beetlejuice" -- died this morning after falling at his home in Alabama ... this according to his sister.
Shadix's sister Susan Gagne told The Birmingham News that the actor was "having mobility problems" and may have fallen out of his wheelchair and "hit his head in the kitchen."
Susan told the BN she believes the blow to the head caused his death.
Glenn -- who famously participated in the iconic "Day-O" dance in the movie -- was 58.

Aww, that's sad. Didn't he lose his home last year due to a fire? He was funny as the Reverend in "Heathers", too. RIP.

Yeah his little victorian he was so proud of was destroyed by fire or something like that. Seems like he had quite a bit of problems towards the end there..

He also played a voodoo priest/warlock of some kind on an episode of "Fresh Prince Of Bel Air" back in the 90's.
When Will doubted his powers and ability to cast spells, Shadix loudly proclaimed a complicated spell directed at Will, and then he said, very funnily, "I placed a curse on you!" Boy, did I ever laugh at that!
This episode was for Halloween, that's why Will was "cursed" and then many things started going horribly wrong in the Banks house. But it turned out to be all just Will's dream! Sheesh!
Glenn will be missed, he was quite funny and entertaining in his TV and movie roles. He was in Demolition Man too, if memory serves. He also played a smarmy teacher who got his hand ripped off by a sleepwalker in a Stephen King movie.
I had no idea he was in a wheelchair, and now he's the second actor to have died from a fall. RIP Mr. Shadix.

Glenn did not need the wheelchair because of his weight - he had a bypass several years ago and lost over 100 pounds. He was in the wheelchair because he was about to have a hip transplant.

He was quite thin recently, really nice guy too. I had read he had leg issues but I thought it was his ankle or knee, not hip? Anyway, super nice, funny guy. My thoughts are with his family :-(
