Joe Montana has some issues with the way his former college team was portrayed in "Rudy" -- because the former Notre Dame superstar just insinuated Rudy Ruettiger was more of a joke than an inspiration. 
Montana -- who played on the 1975 Fighting Irish squad with Ruettiger -- appeared on DirecTV's Dan Patrick Show this morning and said of the flick, "It's a movie remember ... not all that's true."
After a dismissive sigh, Montana undermined some of the main storylines in the movie saying, "The crowd wasn’t chanting … nobody threw in their jerseys."
Montana acknowledged that the real Rudy did play in the final home game ... and did get a sack -- but stated that when the players carried Rudy off the field, they were "kinda playin' around ... I won't say as a joke, but playing around."
Joe finished, "He worked his butt off to get where he was ... but not any harder than anybody else."

That movie portrayed a guy who was not talented as a football player and despite his hard work, just not a gifted player. I think it would have made more sense for he guy to have focused on other talents.
Geez, Joe. How can you be bitter at that guy?!? You sound like a spoiled, rich brat dismissive of all the working-class commoners. Joe, you had over a decade in the spotlight...you can't let some guy have 10 minutes? Telling the truth is one thing, but dismissing the guy as nobody and beneath you is another.

Why are people upset with Montana? I heard the show and he merely stated that some of the dramatic moments in the movie did not happen. He hardly sounded bitter. He sounded like someone who was there and wanted the audience to know the reality vs the Hollywood version. That makes him bitter? I hardly think he has anything to be bitter about. The problem is that everyone who has seen that movie will think that's what happened when it didn't. There's a difference between feel good story and hype and exaggeration.
Wow Joe You Suck! I know Rudy's younger brother. He was a teacher at my school. He was a great guy and Im sure Rudy was as well, coming from the same family. The movie Rudy is about never giving up and always giving your extra effort.
If you didnt know that movies are not always true then maybe you can go fly on a magic dragon like in The Neverending story...you idiot.

I agree with Joe, I'm sick of Hollywood making movies that are fake. Stick to the facts. It would have been still a great movie with out all the lies.
