Mayweather

Charged with Battery

for Face Poking

12/7/2010 4:35 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Floyd Mayweather has been charged with criminal battery in Nevada for allegedly -- and this is serious -- poking a man in the cheekbone with his finger ... TMZ has learned.

Floyd Mayweather Charged
TMZ has obtained the criminal complaint -- in which cops say a private security officer named Shayne Smith told officers Mayweather went ballistic outside of his Las Vegas home on November 15 after Smith placed parking citations on two of Floyd's cars.

According to the documents, Smith alleges Mayweather screamed that the guard had "no f*cking business" touching his personal property -- before the boxer grabbed a citation from one of his cars and slapped it on Smith's patrol vehicle.

The document continues, "While lambasting Smith, Mayweather was allegedly jabbing his finger into the left side of Smith's cheek just below his eye. This willful and unlawful use of force and violence upon Smith caused redness and discoloration to the area which was battered by Mayweather."

Smith claims he drove out of the area to "de-escalate" the situation, immediately notified his boss ... and then took photos of his bruised up cheek.

So far, no comment from Floyd's camp.

I know that Floyd Mayweather regrets his overreaction to this Officer's arrogance. If there was some visible damage done to the Officer's face by Floyd Mayweather (with his finger), I'm sure Floyd Mayweather will settle out of court. I will never understand why the Rich and Famous continue to let these "DESPERATE AND CONNIVING" Americans get in their pocket? If they want to just give their money away why don't they donate it to charity? I certainly don't have to worry about sumpthin like this happening to Floyd Mayweather again. (I hope) So sincere, Michael Sydney Perkins (aka SWEET P)

Floyd has proved over and over lately that he is not the brightest bulb in the pack. He is a braggart and a chicken and the majority of his boxing matches appear to have been rigged by either inferior opponents or intentional dives being taken. Of course his promoter has something to do with that part.

sounds like he is doing whatever it takes... including hiding in jail... rather than fight a real boxer ---> PACMAN !

Sometimes I feel PacMan shouldn't even bother trying to fight common stret trash !

Yea, technically he's guilty.... so he should have punched this rent-a-cop in the face....with a 1-2 combination... he would have the same charges...so might as well enjoy it!!!!!

Cops are pushing this because they protect their own.... even if its a rent-a-cop.

WOW U MAYWEATHER HATERS ARE TAKING THIS THING REALLY TO FAR. GO TO JAIL FOR LIFE, COWARD,ETC ETC. ITS SO FUNNY BECAUSE U COWARDS WOULD BE SO SCARED IF U SEEN THIS MAN FACE TO FACE. U WOULD PROBABLY CALL THE POLICE LIKE A BITCH INSTEAD OF FACING A MAN THATS CAPABLE OF BEATING YOUR HEAD IN LIKE HE IS. YOU DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AND SO WHAT IF IT DID. HE'S STILL A HUMAN BEING EVERYONE EXPERIENCES TH EMOTION,ANGER AND WE REACT.ITS JUST NOT THROWN IN THE MEDIA EVERYTIME. SO WHILE ALL U ANGELS WHO ARE WITHOUT SIN. GET REAL. OR GET LOST.

Considering who Mayweather is (a skilled boxer), I think the statement, "...for allegedly -- and this is serious -- poking a man in the cheekbone with his finger...." is a headliner statement rather than an accurate account of what is alleged to have happened.

This man makes his living in a sport that encourages hitting another human being. I find it suspicious to report this alleged incident at a time when, many are salivating at the mouth for Mayweather to enter the ring with Pacquiao. [It reminds me of children on the playground, “Hit him. I dare you to hit him. I bet you’re afraid to hit him. Go ahead and just hit him.”] If, Mayweather had intended to hurt Mr. Smith, I
believe he could have inflicted a much worse injury.

Why were there no photos of Mr. Smith’s seriously poked cheekbone?

The boxing world used this same tactic with Roy Jones. Roy Jones had nothing to prove to anyone. It wasn’t until he entered the ring with Tarver that the nasayers became silent. The sad thing about that fight is, Roy was not at his best. And it was not because he was injured or failed to prepare. It was
because he didn’t want to fight. He lost his desire to fight.

Because Mr. Mayweather earns his living by entertaining us in the boxing ring, I think we/TMZ owes his the benefit of a complete story (pictures of the alleged poked cheekbone) especially, if you are going to equate the level of damage by stating the seriousness of the incident.

@#59 If someone else calls Floyd poking someone in the cheek assault 1 more time, im gonna scream! This is why most countries laugh at America, because of dumbness like this. You badmouth someone who has a PERFECT boxing record and have the nerve to call them washed up! Thats so backwards, then you want to not only call poking someone in the face assault, but also say he needs to watch his temper?!?! If he wasnt watching his temper then security A-Hole would have been knocked out on the floor with teeth missing. Do me a favor, before anyone else decides to just go off of their personal feelings about Mayweather and not stick to the facts presented, try and have ur comments make an inkling of sense! JEEZ!
