Dr. Conrad Murray

Ordered to Stand Trial

1/11/2011 8:41 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Dr. Conrad Murray was just ordered to stand trial in the death of Michael Jackson.

Conrad Murray Trial

Judge Michael Pastor ruled there is sufficient evidence to warrant a manslaughter trial.

In his closing statement, Deputy District Attorney David Walgren told the judge, "It was not Michael Jackson's time to go.  Michael Jackson is not here today because of the negligence and reckless acts of Dr. Murray."

Walgren said Murray cared more about covering up evidence than helping MJ.

Judge Pastor's ruling follows a 6-day preliminary hearing in which more than 20 witnesses were called.

If convicted Murray faces a maximum of 4 years in prison.

UPDATE:  Murray's lawyer, Ed Chernoff, tells TMZ, "We are disappointed but not surprised.  We knew we would be in trial and that's where we're going to end up."

Dr. Murray should get more than 4 years. My opinion it should be for negligent homicide.

I'm watching the developments of Murray's trial while holding my breath. Only when he is convicted and formerly declared responsible will I be able to exhale. Dr. Murray? --nice person? ---o I'm sure he's NICE enough. No harm in borrowing a cup of sugar from him as the guy next door. Certainly he's sure to have helped many a blind man across a crowed street---None of that matters now. For failing to recognize his practice is not 'business as usual' when it comes to the precious life of a world treasure....he will pay. He should have had all his senses fine tuned dealing with Michael. He should have been more vigilant that he's ever been in his entire career handling Michael. Instead he did the opposite. He was negligent, he was hapless, he was careless, he was dishonest and cunning in his cover ups. So that's why he should pay. Out of all the patients in the world== he wanted to slack off when it came to Michael Jackson? Somebody adored and beloved by the whole world? Someone many consider as innocent as a child, someone devoid of malice or guile --never had a bad word to say about anyone. Michael? Displaced trust? Was what the world held so dear about you ultimately your downfall? You trusted a bafoon with your life. You let your mortal enemy into your home and let down your guard in the wake of a wolf. Well you left us wretched. So we need Murray to suffer the way we are still suffering everyday -wondering what Micahel's last minutes were like. Longing for a different reality than the bleak one we were dealt were we will never know the heights of sucess Michael would have achieved with This is It. Is Murray kidding? Does he actually believe he'll walk away from this unscathed?

I actually think a lot of people didn't really think about Michael Jackson until his death. He became reclusive and spent time with only friends and family. It's entirely possible we wouldn't have ever heard the music that is out now on his new cd if it were not for his death. I would like to think that he would have released it but who knows? It wasn't included in his concerts to be held in the UK. He could never have survived 50 concerts. I think Dr. Murray should be held responsible for Michael's death and if it had not been Michael and just any other patient he also should be held responsible. Of course if had been someone else he would not have been giving them those kind of drugs unless they were rich and could afford to pay for them and a private doctor. Involuntary manslaughter is just not enough, unless they take his medical license. That should be included with the 4 years for sure. You know his story is Michael offed himself and how do we know that he didn't?

It's obviuosly a case of murder, a planned murder.
The insurance calls the doctor to ask about MJ's health
The doctor calls everyone but 911
The doctor doesn't perform the CPR
The doctor calls MJ's son
The doctor didn't do the CPR and called 911 to get time for MJ to die, he called Prince, because he wanted a witness.
If an addicted in drugs (not medicines) are provided by the drug dealers. Everybody accuses the drug dealers, so why is this doctor innoncent? He is a drug dealer in disguise.
The doctor was not a psychiatrist or a psycologist to prescribe medicines to sleep.
MJ would be responsible for his death if he hadn't hired a doctor and took the medicines himself.
It would be a case of manslaughter if MJ were at a hospital and the doctor had made a mistake, but the doctor was in his home doing illegal procedures and he was not well-equipped to do so.
So it's clearly a murder, what kind of law is this?
Maybe Katherine is right but I wonder why she has never done anything to save her son, and now she appears as a great mother.
She and Joe Killed him if it weren't for them MJ wouldn't have become a trouble mind man. She and Joe will pay a high price for this.

I am sorry to whoever said that MJ was responsible for his own death. They are wrong. The greedy people and the ugly press were the reason he needed meds. But those meds didn't kill him...the lethal dose of Propofol did. The coroner said that even if MJ himself would've administered it, Dr Murray would still be at fault. My question, who paid Dr. Murray to "act negligent"? $ony?
