H&R Block -- We Want No Part of 'Skins'

1/22/2011 7:23 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

H&R Block is the latest company to pull its ads from the controversial MTV show "Skins" -- but the company tells us their ad wasn't supposed to run during the show in the first place.

The popular tax return company is just the latest to pull its ads from the show -- Wrigley, Taco Bell and GM have already pulled theirs. A rep for the company tells TMZ, "H&R Block is not an advertiser of the show. One ad ran by mistake as part of a rotation. Once we learned this, we immediately took steps to ensure it didn't happen again. This program is not brand right and H&R Block did not select it to be part of our rotation."

The controversial teen drama has drawn the ire of conservative groups because of its racy subject matter. The Parents Television Council has fired off a letter voicing their concerns to the U.S Department of Justice and the U.S. Senate and House Judiciary Committees.

It makes you wonder if the same companies would also turn up their noses at sponsoring Limbaugh or Beck? Those two are a lot more offensive than this silly s**t.

No offence to anyone but I am from Ireland and the UK version, which is shown over here, is now on its 5th season. I know Americans take things far more seriously than many other countries, and of course thats your culture and thats fine, but I do think that this certain thing has been blown way out of preportion. I didn't see the US version but the one we have shows teenagers, both boys and girls and same sex couples together having sex, them taking drugs, murder, cheating, drinking...you name it they do it. It is hugely popular over here...and why? Because it may not be a reflection of many peoples experiences in life and so is providing entertainment, and on the other hand it gives other people situations that are similar to ones they have had in their life...so they can relate to the show. If a child goes completely off the rails from watching a show then I think that it wouldn't take much for them to go off the rails in the first place....looks like a case of 'We are parents, its our responsibility to protect our kids, but if my child does something 'wrong' im a parent its everyone elses fault and their responsible for it happening'. It wont make the majority of teenagers, or tweens, start doing whats in the show. and if anyone does start doing stuff you notice is similar to stuff in the show - chances are they always have and your just copping on now, or they were always going to!!! That is all.

MTV will stoop to any low for ratings. I saw previews for Skins..if I want to watch online porn, I'll just watch jersey Shore.

Hey guess what?! There's an OFF button on your remote! You don't like it? Then TURN IT OFF!!! No one is forcing you to watch it, jeez! I'm tired of these old conservative geezers trying to dictate what people watch! Get a hobby and move on!

Really? The viewers of "Skins" are H&R Block's target audience? Most of 'em probably have never filed taxes. THAT'S why they're pulling their ads.

Your children don't watch TV? Who are you and what planet are you from? While you are at work, which you probably aren't, your children do as they wish.

If MTV is producing and distrubuting sexual content then it should be rated as such for the safety of the innocent. Vitamin bottles have a safety cap, so should MTV.

IF YOU ARE A PARENT AND YOU SUPPORT THE KID PORN CALLED "SKINS", THEN SHAME ON YOU.
Yes there is teen sex and drugs, but do I want to see it thrown in my children's face "NO". Those actors are real teens not 29 year olds playing teens. One is like 15......it is sick and should be taken off, shame on the actors parents for letting their kids be in the series.

I do my congratulations to the Skins actors & actresses: congrats! now you're famous! :D The more these 'tards shoot at your show, the more you'll become famous, just like Jersey shore! :D

And althought i agree that this show isn't necessarily for teens (remind that it airs at 10PM and it's tagged for Mature Audience)i've seen the first episode but i did not see any boob, naked booty or other. So calm dawn, wear your safety belts, chastity belts, and have fun !

i think the problem is child pornography. gossip girl was suppose to be set in college.

They argue back this is what teens are doing. If this is what teens are doing they and their parents need to be beaten around the head with a 2x4. Just because the ho next door does it doesn't make it right or LEGAL

It would be hilarious if the MTV executives and producers of the show were hauled away to prison for child pornography!! It would be justice for them to be in prison for all that sh*t they put on TV!!!
