Lindsay Lohan -- Last Minute Plea Deal Talks

3/9/2011 9:00 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Lindsay Lohan's attorney Shawn Holley is trying to hammer out a plea deal -- one that reduces Lindsay's jail time --  by holding an 11th hour meeting with Judge Schwartz and Deputy D.A. Danette Meyers ... in advance of tomorrow's hearing.

Sources connected with the case tell us Holley, Meyers, and the judge met this afternoon to discuss LiLo's options -- but truth is ... she doesn't have many.

Lindsay can either a) cop a plea on the felony grand theft charge and get as little as a 3-month sentence ... or b) go to trial, face at LEAST 6 months in jail for violating probation ... and up to another 3 YEARS in prison for the grand theft.

Bottom line ... it behooves Lindsay to accept a deal that would most likely score her a reduced sentence for the probation violation AND allow her to avoid prison time for theft.

But as TMZ previously reported, Lindsay is adamantly refusing any agreement involving jail time -- and it's becoming increasingly apparent that she's in denial about the reality ... she's going to jail, like it or not.

She reminds me of when my siblings and I were kids and used to cry and whine to Dad to let Mom allow us to stay home from Sunday School and Church on Sundays.

We would whine/cry all the way there...remember, we were kids. What's her excuse?

I hate the whole idea of plea deals, it allows guilty people to do less time and its used to get innocent people to admit to things they did not do.

Hey Lindsay, fight this thing. Don't plea bargin. The jury will see that the jewelry store is just picking on you to score some money.

Now the Trollhans are saying she won't spend that much time in jail. So what, shes going to be a convicted jewel thief!

Even 12 days in jail does not equate to innocent. Perhaps it does equate to LINNOCENT, which must mean guilty but delusional.

But I have a prediction to make. If Lohan thinks that only 12 days in jail means that she is innocent, then she has a lot more jail time in her future.

That's the spirit - keep fighting Lindsay! Ask yourself, "What would Rod Blagojevich do?"

Actually she faces up to 3 years in prison, if she is convicted of the felony grand theft. However, she probably has a good chance to take the case to a preliminary hearing and request the hearing judge to reduce the case at that time to a misdemeanor. The she could be going to trial on a misdemeanor facing a maximum of 3 years probation and a year in jail (not prison)

The reason there is jail time for LiLo is that 1: she's on probation (she'll go to jail for a probation violation) and 2: it's a felony. I think Mel is or is going to be charged with a misdemeanour which takes down the seriousness of the crime and punishment.

Your editorial suggesting that L. Lohan should give in to the D.A.'s demand that she plead guilty to a felony even though she is innocent just so she can get less time in jail may be pragmatic advice, but real Americans don't give in to the extortion of the government, especially a media whore like D. Meyers. There comes a point where a person simply has to fight at whatever the cost. Otherwise, you might as well as just get down on your knees and lick boots, or whatever. Accordingly, you should be applauding L. Lohan's courage in the face of this unfair situation, which involves not only very tenuous charges, but also a court system totally biased against her, and a public hungry for her crucifixion.

Actually, I think she is guilty, and I don't applaud anyone for stealing or for lying. It takes courage to tell others you're wrong and also humility, both of which she sorely lacks.
