That could have easily been us. Maybe not tsunami or an earthquake...but something or someone could come along and kill everyone in YOUR family and destroy everything YOU hold dear leaving you with absolutely NOTHING to live for. If that does happen to YOU...then I hope some pathetic douche will come along and crack jokes about everything you lost.

Thousands have died and your cracking jokes about it? People dying is NEVER something to joke about.

This is America, Freedom of Speech and all. It was callous and not the best thing to say, but he had the right to say it, and Aflac has that right to fire him. The guy lost a gravy boat.

To those who say it's just a joke think what the reaction would have been had GG made a similar joke about people jumping from the World Trade Centre.....on September 12 2001. Hypocrites!

Everyone here is so small-minded and reactionary. You fail to realize human beings are capable of a complex range of emotions... simultaneously. I feel horrible about the tragedy in Japan and my heart goes out to all those affected. At the same time, I find these jokes to be hysterical. I laughed so hard. Comedy an art form and it is designed to make us laugh, entertain us, and help us get through hard times. All Gilbert did was try to make light of a very tough time in the world and I applaud him for it. The world needs the Red Cross to take care of Japan, and the world needs comedians to help the rest of us get through a time of sorrow and grief. It's comedy people... get over it.

Really – Shocking Tsunami Jokes – I was really shocked that this is an issue, a joke is a joke and if you haven’t forgot this is America “Freedom of Speech” ever heard of it!!!
It’s OK to make a comment as long as everyone agrees. As Americans we are giving up every right our country gives us because someone else doesn’t approve of something.
Let him have his right to freedom of speech just like you are doing if not then STFU you are just as wrong as he is! Wake up and smell the burning reactor. There are more important things going on here than someone’s joke..!
Yes if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.
“Problem” – people were killed, displaced, hungry, homeless in need of help.
“Solution” - Donate what you can, greave for their loss’s. Don’t spend your time on this type of trivial BS what a bunch of moronic Idiots!

Oh for goodness sakes people. There are many different ways to deal with tragedy. We can't burn someone at the stake every time they say something off. No one is perfect. Not even you!
