Lindsay Probation Report: She's Been Drinking Again!

3/17/2011 8:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Lindsay Lohan's probation report says she's been drinking fermented tea that contains alcohol -- yeah, big whoop.

0316_lindsay_lohan_PCN
Sources familiar with the report tell TMZ ... Lindsay fessed up to her probation officer ... she was drinking Kombucha tea, which has an alcohol content of 0.5% or less ...  and now the L.A. County Probation Department added it to the list of reasons why the judge should violate her probation and send her to jail.

Lindsay was so bold ... she actually left one of her alcohol ed classes clutching a bottle of Kombucha.

That plea bargain's sounding better than ever.

If anyone believes this fool hasn't been drinking, they're bigger fools than Lindsay herself.

Remember that old-time Dallas episode where JR's wife was getting "drunk" by drinking mouthwash. Addicts like Lindsay will find ANYWAY to get their fix. Including drinking "tea"

"I'm sorry officer, I was -just- drinking tea." Yea, right...

therock, maybe you should do some research before you speak. Apparently I'm not as stupid as you may think:

When alcohol is ingested, the body begins to metabolize it. During this process, the alcohol enters the bloodstream, passes through the internal organs, and is then excreted through breath, urine, and sweat. Because it takes time for alcohol to enter your bloodstream after you drink it, your blood alcohol level can actually rise for a time after you’ve had your last drink.
Sweating, breathing, and going to the bathroom excrete only a small amount of the alcohol—which is why most screening tests require a blood sample. The alcohol will be detectable in your bloodstream far longer than it will for a simple breath test.
Using a breath test, one ounce of alcohol is generally no longer detectable in one to two hours, depending on the size and sex of the person. This also assumes one, one-ounce drink of alcohol, with no alcohol ingested for several hours or days before that. One ounce of alcohol will have a greater effect on a 100-pound female than it will on a 300-pound male. And whether fair or not, alcohol stays in a female’s system longer than a male’s because of the fact that women metabolize alcohol differently than men do.
A blood test, however, can detect smaller amounts of alcohol and for longer periods. Small amounts of alcohol ingestion (one to three ounces) may still be detectable in the blood ten to twelve hours later—again, depending on the person. These figures are also for a non-habitual user, or the occasional drinker. A habitual drinker’s blood and internal organs will "store" the alcohol from successive drinking sessions, and it takes much longer—sometimes up to a week—to eliminate enough alcohol from the system to pass a blood alcohol screening.
To metabolize alcohol out of your system, it must pass through your liver. A perfectly-functioning liver can metabolize an ounce of alcohol per hour—about one standard drink. Heavy drinkers, whose liver may be impaired, may metabolize much less than that, and would need to allow a much longer time before taking a blood alcohol test.
You cannot speed up your liver’s functioning. This is why drinking large amounts quickly or chugging drinks can become fatal. What the liver can’t process, the blood must store, and alcohol poisoning can be the result. If planning for a blood alcohol test, it’s best not to drink any alcoholic drink for several hours to a day or two prior to the test date to give yourself the best chance for a clear test result.

For those not willing to read my entire last post, the important part: A blood test, however, can detect smaller amounts of alcohol and for longer periods. These figures are also for a non-habitual user, or the occasional drinker. Chug a few of those tea drinks in the morning, and a few at night and you will have a constant amount of alcohol in your system for the entire day. As I said.

Exactly, Davey Boy! Exactly! Reading this article makes me realize that Lindsay's drinking problems are much deeper than just someone who is spoiled and likes to party. She's now finding ways to get alcohol into her body without overtly "drinking." As you said, alcoholics will find different means to find alcohol, even in as bizarre a place as mouthwash. I've even heard of alcoholics drinking wood alcohol (BAD idea.)

Ordinary foods -- any food you can name -- contain trace amounts of alcohol. I agree with everyone who is saying, in short: she deserves to be thrown in jail -- but not for drinking this tea. To attack her on this basis is the worst combination of prohibitionism and McCarthyism.

all about the money

wow seriously? Next thing you know they are going to call her a mouth wash, breath spray, mouth mint, mint gum, toothpaste addict and want to violate her for that as well and TMZ will be right there "recommending" she take the plea deal yet again...

If Lilo drinks a lot of the stuff, the monitor will show it! One glass full is nothing but if you drink 5, it amounts to a beer!

Yes, there is that, miamimi. However, an alcoholic needs to have alcohol in the system continuously, as they are physically addicted. Therefore, even if she's not going full-Monty on swigging a bunch of the bottles of tea, what might be a small, inconsequential amount to a non-alcoholic might be enough to satisfy the physical cravings of an alcoholic. We're no longer talking about a person going out to drink to party but someone who has to sastify those physical cravings. Thus, any small amount to stop the cravings will be a help.

That's a typical alcoholic for you, they will find alcohol in ANY form. Bet she's downing Nyquil at night too...both the tea and Nyquil aren't "technically" alcohol but both contain it in small amounts. All a "non-alcoholic" drink is, is something that contains less than .5% of alcohol...there's nothing that says it has to be absolutely alcohol free. So it's very easy for an alcoholic to find OTC drugs that contain it and other drinks as well...to still consume alcohol. Bet she downs those teas.

she is clearly enjoying the attention -- and maybe the thrill of flirting with going to jail -- most of us would never even think of drinking tea laced with alcohol, and if we did we'd think that maybe we should play it safe and avoid it [if we were in her shoes] -- but she's always got to be pushing the envelope.

There is research that shows small doses of alcohol can assist in the rehabilitation of alcoholics. Regardless, I'm really sick of this Lindsay Lohan witch hunt, let's put our energy into prosecuting the war criminals and banksters that have ruined so many lives.

For crying in a bucket - why the heck does anyone care about what Lindsay is drinking? She is a troubled young woman who obviously needs a lot more help than she is getting from anyone in her circle. The press is circling her like buzzards on road kill.
The world needs to move on to people who are important - like cops who put their lives on the line, or our military, who are still dying in the wars at a rate of several a week. Oh, didn't know that? That's because the press is more interested in what Lindsay's drinking or what mad rant Charlie Sheen is on, than on the IMPORTANT people in our society - those who are dying in service to their country.
