Robert Downey Jr. & Mel Gibson:

Double-Double Date

3/21/2011 3:25 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Robert Downey Jr. and Mel Gibson got together for a friendly celebrity power lunch yesterday, but it didn't go down at one of those super-expensive Hollywood joints -- they got burgers at In-N-Out ... TMZ has learned.

Mel Gibson and Robert Downey Jr.
The old friends found themselves out in Irvine, CA when the hunger pangs hit -- so they went to every West Coasters favorite fast food spot.

According to a witness, they each ordered a Double-Double combo meal and dined with a third person, non-celebrity. They were joined by a friend, who did the ordering for them.

BTW -- We know the pic is blurry, but we've confirmed  ... it's definitely them.

No word on why the two were in Irvine together, but we're told it definitely wasn't for a movie.

Fuddy -

I'm just running various scenarios through my head. If Attorney Berk were to take it to state level, what might her reception be? So I snooped a bit and discovered she apparently has a respectful enough relationship with AG Harris that an approach would be taken seriously.

Curious...I believe that if Blair Berk took this matter to the sate AG, then it would be the responsibility of the AG to check into the matter. The AG is elected by the people to serve the people, and if there is a report of corruption, then it's the responsibility of the AG to check into it. I know Ms. Berk is sharp, and with the two recent Harriet Ryan articles in the LA Times, I hope that she does pursue this. It's wrong. I'd like to know what Det. Wagner's purpose was in writing to the DA last Thursday? Any ideas?

Don't be surprised if Det. Wagner takes it to the State Prosecutor, with the evidence of how her atty. EG gave political contributions to Cooley, thus resulting in lack of prosecution for extortion or ANYTHING.

Dunamis...maybe that's how it will work; Det. Wagner will go to the CA AG. The LA Times article states that Det. Wagner had three charges of extortion for OG.

When OG proposed using domestic violence as an issue to raise the settlement ante; that was problematic because lawyers are not allowed to threaten action based on criminal acts to gain an advantage in civil litigation.
Also, OG stated, if the opposition is "buying my silence," meaning she was agreeing to not release the tapes if she was paid; fits every element of extortion. If she is not charged at the state level, there should definitely be some type of investigation at the federal or state level(state attorney general's office or U.S. Attorney's office) to figure out why she wasn't charged given the overwhelming evidence against Oksana.

BUT, if Cooley had taken it to trial, would he somehow underhandly blown it? Maybe it should be in someone elses hands.
Too much dirt under the table. Who knows what Cooley is thinking. I guess I'm going with different scenarios also.

During Mel's sentencing, it was stated she could tape him; I guess that throws out Fed. charges.

Fuddy - I think Det. Wagner is pissed as hell. He's got her cold and he knows it.
--"I stated the difference in this case is one party was accusing the other of a crime and wanted money not to expose it," Wagner wrote. But Lynch was unwavering, according to the letter--

That's the DV right there. I've been thinking all along they could save their buddy Attorney George simply by focusing on the June e-mails Miss Oksana sent about going forward with the DV. Compound that with the manufactured evidence, illegal wire tapping, false police report.

There's so much they could get her for without ever mentioning Attorney George's name.

Yep. Sure, Lucia will be taken care of financially. Thanks to Mel of course ))
But what about Lucia being in the care of Ox, with her sleezy values, for the next 17 years? Imagine the inner conflict of the child. What about Lucia reading horrid things about her father or understanding/being told at an early stage that her mother was really a simple ho and a baby for $$ making machine .. Plenty to carry for a child growing up in a public eye. Ox will make sure of that - as in $$ for Lucia's news/pictures - her other money making venture .. etc etc

I couldn't agree more. And a child loves it's parent whether they are spit on everywhere they go or not. But their intuitiveness is not to be underestimated. In 10-12 years, Lucia will probably size her Mom up but sometimes it takes decades to learn you were used in every instance esp with pathological liars and that can be very debilitating. But no matter there will be children going without meals and clothing all over the world while LG only has to speeddial an allowance raise. It's safe to say Mel parents by insight. Kids keep promise scorecards. In the end, a single bad example is almost better than a good one.

Wrong. We don't know what is in that demand letter, and attorney George's name would be at the bottom of that letter.

I believe that only applies to the current order, it doesn't cover when she taped him back in Feb. 2010.
