Colbert

Makes Black's 'Friday'

Into Awesome Jam

4/2/2011 10:45 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Stephen Colbert is truly a magician -- because with the help of Jimmy Fallon, The Roots and a special "American Idol" guest, he managed to turn the Rebecca Black song "Friday" into ... dare we say it ... a good song.

Oh I love this guy's show, Jon Stewart too. I laughed my butt off when Colbert did that segment where he visited the troops in Iraq and let them take the clippers to his hair, (actually it didn't look bad after).

Awesome???..It was not awesome. Nice thing to do for charity but there was nothing special about it at all. We have seen this sort of "performance" a million times before including the opening spotlight, group encore and balloon drop at the end. Cliched would be a more accurate description. Fallon can at times be funny but he has a hard time cutting his old SNL ties. His show CONSTANTLY has his SNL cronies on which is odd cause no one really thinks SNL is funny anymore. In all it comes off as very high school.

b., there are a lot of worse things to fall back on than SNL. And even though a gossip site might be a good place to start a grammar movement, most of us less learned than you know brilliant farce when we see it. Do you work for FOX news?

Did you actually expect a 13-yr-old's lyrics to be...what? riveting? Ever listen to the lyrics in half the garbage that passes for music these days or let's talk about the lyrics in rap music...on second thought, let's not. What about Justin Bieber, gag me with spoon. Colbert did what he always does, took something current and made us laugh our butts off.

BTW, Jimmy's originality has been proven. Loved political Karaoki which he'd be wading in right now between Newt, Sarah, Michelle & new birther, fear monger, "I was always a smart kid people knew, no one knew Obama."-The Donald, who forgot to mention he'd inherited a fortune in NYC real estate and nearly lost it twice. I guarantee none of these contenders will publish their low IQ's like previous Presidents (consider source too):

Hilarious! Love Stephen Colbert, and adding Hicks was the icing. It was all done tongue in cheek and was perfection. Great job guys.
