Katie Couric Leaving "CBS Evening News"

4/4/2011 9:57 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Katie Couric, the first woman ever to anchor a network news broadcast by herself, will be leaving her post at "CBS Evening News" after less than five years on the job, this according to reports.

Katie Couric Leaving CBS
Speculation has been going on for some time that Couric would bolt, and now a network exec tells the AP that is the case, though no official date has been set. Her contract is up June 4.

It's expected Couric will move on to host her own syndicated show.

When Curic took over the evening news it became more like Inside Edition. I thought Dan Rather was bias sometimes but Curic took it to another level. CBS news was the best 20 years ago just went down the wrong path at some point.

I think NBC will drop Meredith Vieira from "Today" and bring Katie Couric back.

Yes, "Today" is still number-one among network morning shows (as it was before Couric left), but nowadays, it's primary competition in most cities isn't "Good Morning America", but local morning news shows (mostly, but not always) on Fox affiliates.

There are quite a few cities where a local morning news show on the Fox station leads the ratigns between 7 and 9 A.M.

Couric returning to "Today" could be what the show needs to bolt past the local morning shows in those cities where it's been in second place (behind a local morning news show) of late.

Imagine the promos: "Katie, Matt, Al and Ann! America's First Family Of Morning Television Is Back Together! 'Today', Weekdays from 7 to 9 A.M. On NBC!".

Biased and leaves out the facts. Her daytime show will fail too.

*** Katie Couric lost half of her fan base when she went all political. She wants Oprah's gig...only thing is, she's not Oprah, never will have the fan base of Oprah...she can only hope. Sure she wants to have a morning show and as her first "guest" she'll invite Obama on to draw viewers...only thing is, no one will tune it for that or her.***

Holy crap, Katie is so stupid. If CBS had any smarts at all they would be well on the way to get Keith Olbermann. Whether or not he is a Democrat matters little.

Firstly he is a journalist and the man wreaks integrity. So much so with his youth, 52 yrs, he would restore CBS News back to when it was hosted by Walter Cronkite and Edward R Murrow. I mean real news.

This woman sucked as a "news" person. She is a spoiled, rich, NY based, biased-ass liberal. If you were not in her little liberal club, then you were stupid. Well, Katie, you got your millions from those Bone-Heads at CBS (anybody that would hire that maroon Dan Rather as a "news" person was smoking dope anyway), go a a boat trip to Spain....and fall in!

Me encantaba lo objetiva que era al presentar las noticias. Se necesita periodistas como ella que busquen informar y no escandalizar y llamar la atención. Qué lástima.
