Katie Couric Leaving "CBS Evening News"

4/4/2011 9:57 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Katie Couric, the first woman ever to anchor a network news broadcast by herself, will be leaving her post at "CBS Evening News" after less than five years on the job, this according to reports.

Katie Couric Leaving CBS
Speculation has been going on for some time that Couric would bolt, and now a network exec tells the AP that is the case, though no official date has been set. Her contract is up June 4.

It's expected Couric will move on to host her own syndicated show.

All CBS was trying to do was create another Mary Tyler Moore reality show and failed. They think we're all stupid.

CBS should take a hard look at the content of the news they are delivering instead of shooting the messenger.

I doubt anyone will succeed in their anchor position or their ratings will improve until they manage to write their news broadcasts up in a fair and unbiased way rather than trying to bend our minds to their way of thinking.

Same goes for ABC and NBC.

I am so glad that she is leaving! I do not like her. I maybe watch a half hour total in a week of the evening news. The networks give us dribble. I use to have a big c-band satellite dish and was able to watch news feeds as they were happening and from what i saw and what they reported were two different things. I trust their news reporting as far as i can throw a grocery cart. enough said.

CBS has news and Katie Couric was on it? Darn, I missed it.

She's still hot though.

This woman represents everything I hate about journalism today. Cokie Roberts, Leslie Stahl, Helen Thomas ... we have tons of incredible female journalists who have the gravitas for the job - Katie was never worthy of being an anchor. Whoever thought she was... Epic fail.

Hello and I need your HELP!

My name is Roger Neal and I am a 62 year old unemployed carpenter in Phoenix Arizona.

Over the years I have bought a lot of furniture from Rent-a-Center. A TV, Living room set, Dinning room set, Computer etc..........
Twelve (12) months ago I rented a twin bed from Rent-a-Center and like a lot of the merchandise you rent from Rent-a-Center it was a used bed.
Having bought merchandise from Rent-a-Center in the passed I trusted them to make sure there were no problems with the Bed (BED BUGS).

In fact, at the point I Rented the bed I never even thought about Bed Bugs, since I had never been exposed to them in my lifetime.

My Trust was wasted on Rent-a-Center. Within two, to three weeks after the bed was delivered my room mate who was sleeping on the bed and began to notice little bits on her body. Never having been exposed to Bed Bugs before we thought that the bits were from fleas or ticks. Since we have a couple of cats. We were about three months into the rental agreement when we saw these little reddish brown bugs crawling on the bed. We went on line (the Internet and found out that they were Bed Bugs).

We immediately got in touch with Rent-a-Center store #5510 at 3223 E. McDowell Rd. Phoenix, Arizona (60......2)267-0700. We asked them to pick up the bed and refund all the Money that we had paid for it, on the rental. They told us that they did not give refunds! After a few weeks of arguing with the local office and being ignored. We got in touch with Rent-a-Centers Corporate Office in Dallas. The lady we talked to was concerned and called the Phoenix office, telling them to pickup the bed and refund all the money that we had paid for it.

My room mate and I helped the Rent-a-Center Manager, they sent to pick up the bed, wrap the mattress and box springs in plastic to keep Bed Bugs off him and out of the van when he loaded them in it. He apologized for the Bed Bugs in the bed and said that he would go back to Rent-a-Centers office and get some foggers that they had for Bed Bugs. Which he did, he brought us three foggers. The bad news is, that by the time they picked up the bed, the Bed Bugs had already infested the carpet, the walls, the furniture and any clothing near the bed. The foggers did not work!!!!

We have been calling Rent-a-Center ever since the bed was picked up. The calls have been ignored. My room mates name is Anne Sanchez and after all the calls that Anne has made to Rent-a-Center, the Manager and Asst. Manager claim that her name is Carmen Sanchez, which shows you how much attention and concern they have for their customers.

Finaily on March 7,2011 I called Raul the Asst. Manager at #5510 and told him that I needed to hear from his Supervisor with in 24 hrs.

On March 8, 2011 enters Mr. Chris Hendricks, chris.hendricks@rentacenter.com (972)801-2262)

His immediate response was you can not prove that Rent-a-Center is responsible, claim Denied.

The sad part is that 95% of Rent-a-Centers customers can not afford new furniture, and that is why they rent from Rent-a-Center. By the same token they can not afford a good Attorney and that is why Rent-a-Center is able to Infest their homes with Bed Bugs and get away with it!

Thanks to Rent-a-Center, I am a prisoner in my own home. I can not have any company in my home and I can not leave my home, because I do not want to spread the Bed Bug infestation created by Rent-a-Center.

Since I am on a limited income and can not afford an Attorney to fight Rent-a-Center. I am forced to live in a home infested by Rent-a-Centers Bed Bugs. The mental stress and physical pain of the bites is unbearable.

Please HELP me!!! Boycott Rent-a-Center, Picket Rent-a-Center, Post Bed Bug Warnings on Facebook, Twitter. Get in touch with your local and National TV Stations and News Papers. As a result, I may not get a dime out of Rent-a-Center. But because of them, The only solution to the Bed Bugs that Rent-a-Center has given me is to light a match and burn my house to the ground.

New House, new clothes, new furniture and some Sanity!

I beg you Please do not let Rent-a-Center get away with what they are doing. Do not let them get away with doing to anyone else what they
have done to me and my home.

Public Opinion is the only thing that can stop Rent-a-Center, Chris Hendricks and the Bed Bug Infestation that they are causing!

Sincerely
Roger D. Neal

in bed bugs

This seems to be the week for bed bug lawsuits.

The Tennesseean reports that Evangela Cowan of Nashville is suing Rent-a-Center, claiming the furniture she rented (including a mattress) gave her bed bugs.

She is suing for $575,000. The Tennesseean also reports on the company’s response:

Xavier Dominicis, a Rent-A-Center spokesman, said he could not comment about Cowan’s suit, but did agree to speak about the company’s sanitation practices regarding returned merchandise.

“We use a number of agents to sanitize the equipment,” Dominicis said. “The company follows state guidelines. We inspect everything before it goes out and when it comes back.”

The spokesman said bedbugs are a rarity.

“Occasionally, we’ll get a bedbug here and there and we’ll aid the customer when needed,” Dominicis said.

But Cowan says Rent-A-Center has never attempted to help.

“I explained the situation to them,” she said. “And, they just looked at me. They were completely unconcerned. I actually left in tears.”

We bought a sofa that had been previously rented and then returned without reason. When we figured out we had bed bugs living in the sofa, I called Rent A Center. I was told that the previous renters were not required to give a reason for returning the sectional, and that they wouldn’t know if there was a problem until someone called. So I was calling, and what are they going to do about it? I was told that they treated everything with steri-fab, and they left it at that. We had a pest control company come out and treat the sofa as well as the surrounding areas, but the bugs were not gone. Hello RAC!!!

Rent A Center in Iowa just gave my cousin a 2 couches and a love seat that were infested with them. Their house is 3 stories, one couch went to the third story, the 2nd story is where all the kids (5 of them) bedrooms are and the other couch and love seat went to the living room in the 1st floor… the bed bugs spread RAPIDLY throughout the house. RAC paid for their house to be professionally treated… that was a while ago. I’ve been staying here for 3 nights so far and am COVERED in bites… I don’t think they’re gone and I’m COMPLETELY grossed out, but can’t leave because my grandpa’s funeral is tomorrow and I’ve nowhere else to stay in this town

I don't like Katie because she showed her arrogance and Bias during the last Presidential election. I know alot of people wanted Obama to win for alot of different reasons, But Katie seemed like she was sucking up to both Oprah, and the Obama's because of what they could do for her someday. I wouldn't be surprised by anything that goes on in Hollywood, and I bet Katie will be working on Oprah's new network. When you make people like Oprah Idol's and give them a sense of power, little people like katie Couric always jump on the bandwagon for self serving purpose.
