President Obama WILL NOT Release Death Photo

5/4/2011 10:37 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

President Barack Obama has now decided he will NOT release the ultra-gory photos of Osama bin Laden's bloody, bullet-ridden face to the public.

The news comes in the wake of reports that Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Hillary Clinton had advised Obama about concerns that releasing a photograph could prompt a backlash against the U.S.

Obama told "60 Minutes" ... "The risks of release outweigh the benefits" ... adding, "Conspiracy theorists around the world will just claim the photos are doctored anyway, and there is a real risk that releasing the photos will only serve to inflame public opinion in the Middle East."

Obama continued, "Imagine how the American people would react if al-Qaida killed one of our troops or military leaders, and put photos of the body on the internet."

"Osama bin Laden is not a trophy -- he is dead and let's now focus on continuing the fight until al-Qaida has been eliminated."

People are so stupid...How do you give people a choice whether or not to show it? Once it is out it is out. And honestly if you don't believe now, you aren't going to believe once you see a picture. Chances are the same people that are saying they won't believe it when they see it, would be the same people claiming it was a fake once its seen. The pictures will come out eventually.

Like we haven't seen enough real gore on the internet. Our society is way out desensitized. What is the govt protecting us from? Maybe they're trying to look good to the rest of the world and show we're not all war glorifying maniacs.

Ironic...its okay for Westboro to protest funerals, its okay for pictures of dead americans to be published, but we can't publish osama's pic because it might hurt some feelings? Just goes to show that obama really is a muslim/muslim supporter who will put them first.

Regardless of whether or not the pix are released, there WILL be backlash from OBL supports/sympathizers, etc.

CNN reported last night new details on the compound raid:
- OBL was NOT using that woman as a shield
- OBL was NOT holding a gun or firing back
- OBL RESISTED the SEALS

These new "details" will certainly hit a nerve with OBL's supporters/sympathizers and they will retaliate. They'll take the stance that OBL was firing back and the SEALS SHOT and killed and unarmed man.

I find it difficult to believe that HOW MANY highly trained SEALS couldn't capture OBL..instead they shot him......this is starting to smell a bit fishy to me.

Release them - hopefully it will take away the image that is burned into my brain of people holding hands and leaping from the WTC.
