Bieber's Crew

Stages Mutiny

Over Japan Concert

5/5/2011 6:28 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Justin Bieber's scheduled concerts in Japan could be torpedoed because of a crew mutiny ... TMZ has learned.

Many crew members have flat out refused to go to Japan for two concerts later this month, because they're afraid of the cancer risks from the recent nuclear disaster.  They also fear another earthquake.  Short story -- they are refusing to go to Osaka for a May 17 concert and another concert two days later in Tokyo.

Today in Adelaide, Australia, an angry Scooter Braun -- Justin's manager -- exploded at the crew ... sources who were there tell TMZ.

Braun told the crew, "Man the f**k up and do the right thing by these kids."

But during the meeting -- the 3rd one in 4 days -- members of the crew fired back that it wasn't safe to go and Avril Lavigne and Slash had canceled their Japan concerts.

Scooter said Justin did not want to disappoint the kids who bought tickets and that the Japanese government had given an "all clear" -- that it was safe to be in both cities.

And Scooter noted, Maroon 5 is full steam ahead for its upcoming Japanese concerts.

As of now, there's a stalemate, and the Japanese concerts are in jeopardy.

If the crew doens't want to go the shouldn't have to. Who are you to say what is right for them. I wouldn't go. Its a concert not a medical mission

While we are having our collective chain yanked by the government and the corporate media in the dead Osama affair, the damaged reactors at Fukushima continue to smoke and emit radiation. News about this has all but fallen out of the massaged news cycle.

Truth: You are awesome! PrincessGinger: I'm not sure how much you know about radiation exposure? Radiation permeates EVERYTHING including water, food, rainfall, along with air. Lastly, anyone consider that perhaps Justin Bieber doesn't really want to go to Japan and it's easier to opt out by claiming it's the crew that doesn't want to go? (Hint, hint.)

STEVE! Turn down the music, untuck yourself and go get the girl, dog and lotion OUT of the pit.

Great way to lose all Japanese fans. I lived in Tokyo for five years, and the Japanese do not take kindly to being treated with such obvious disrespect.

Such STUPIDITY and IGNORANCE! The area they are going to is NOT in the danger zone. Radiation schmadiation... quit watching the medias scare reporting tactics.

There are millions of Japanese living their lives with no worries & the tsunami/earthquake didn't affect their lives or neighborhoods. If they don't want to go, hire me, I'll take the trip no problem! I need a job anyway...

It's normal for people to be afraid of something like radiation! If they don't want to go then they shouldn't be forced to go. Reschedule the concert. It's better to be safe than sorry!!

I don't blame them. I wouldn't go neither. The Japan government (like every other government) has been lying about how great the contamination has gotten. Their water and food are contaminated. The whole land is contaminated. Then, we have idiots here in the USA that want more nuclear plants.

My husband is a crew member for a Grammy award winning band and he's been in "the business" for over 10 years. You have no idea what these well trained professionals go through on a daily basis to make sure that entertainers like Bieber or Miley Cyrus have smooth running concerts that go off without a hitch and no one ever suspects that it took a team of 50 people (or more)to make it happen. Almost every crew member that I've ever met have been educated (many have degrees in electrical engineering) well spoken, worldly (they travel more than you can ever hope to in your entire life...) and most are quite health conscious. (The bus my husband is traveling on now has a strict no smoking/drinking rule and all of the food on it is organic). The people who make every concert you've ever been to happen are not blithering idiots...They're decent, responsible people with families at home just like you... and I'm guessing that no amount of money or promises from the promoter is going to make them feel comfortable going to work next to a leaky nuclear reactor if they don't have to. I'd also like to point out that just because a band says they will play a concert in a city or country does NOT mean that the band will be staying there longer than the time it takes to perform the concert itself and then they're whisked away to a plane to go to the next tour stop, but the crew will usually have to stay overnight (in an inexpensive hotel) in that city. In short, If Bieber says he'll do a show in Osaka, that means he'd be there for 3 or 4 hours, while the crew would be there for 2 or 3 days. Also, It goes without saying that the crew members are making about $300 a day while Bieber and the promoter are making millions. Now... would it be worth it to you?

Not only would I go to Japan, It is my life long dream to go to Japan. Anyone silly enough to avoid Japan due to radiation is clearly just misinformed. Last time I checked Los Angeles has a much higher radiation in the air compared to Japan. Please, Justin Biebers Manager - Fire one of the morons refusing to go and hire me. It would be a dream come freaking true.. Who wouldn't want to experience one of the greatest places on earth.. Uhg.. The world is unfair, All these people don't want a free trip to Japan!?!?!? Give it to me!

I wouldn't want to go either. Justin isn't going to be famous for that much longer and his manager knows that. He wants as much money now as he can get.

NAC, the Japanese can kiss my lilly white American ass. If they don't like it, tell them to get their own pubescent musical genious to slobber over.

It's a kiddie concert for Christ sake. It's not Mother Theresa.

Love how you indicate that there's some sort of problem with an American not wanting to go over there to perform a kiddie concert. "The Japanese don't take kindly to being treated with such obvious disrespect", haha who gives a damn??
