It's funny how we have half of america suffering of unemployment, and people still feel the need to make fun of the people who do suffer from it. Yes he had a drug problem, and yes he lost a lot of his money. SO WHAT?? I can assure you though if you were burning on fire he would try and safe your life before these other rich, well known celebrities who thinks their piss is even to good for you would... Grow up and be respectful. Ignorance is such an ugly look on you

Gil Scott-Heron was a master wordssmith. He was humble, funny, a storyteller whose poems, songs, spoke on the disparities of our culture, but he also composed non political tunes such as, "Your Daddy Loves You," "A Lovely Day" "Lady Day & John Coltrane," "Give Her A Call" and others. I think his integrity &musical genius was overlooked in America due to focus on the " controversial" content.
Now in death he is being used as a commodity for vultures.
"The Bottle" & " "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised were award worthy, but no accolades given, American Music awards, nada. His catalogue of music, if listened to reveals his compassion, soul stirrings, consciousness, and blues artistry. A truly unique gift- that deep base voice, his message, and the immortal sounds of his music.

In death he is already being picked on by vultures. (Selling t-shirts, LPs for $100.00), and he hasn't been gone a week.
"The Bottle" & " "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised were award worthy, but no accolades in life, for all the praise he's now being given, why not when he was struggling? When he was here? His catalogue of music reveals his compassion, jazz/soul stirrings, consciousness, and blues artistry.
Gil Scott was a truly unique gift- his unmistakable baritone voice, his message, and the immortal sounds of his music.

This boy was POPPIN' back in the day! Gil laid the groundwork for many of today's artists. If you don't know who he was, look him up.

Gill Scott Heron was a brilliant artist, and a really cool performer. I love his music. His music was motivating, I attended several of his performances in Los Angeles. His music deserved more positive attention. RIP Brother. Condolences to the family.

First, much love to Gill Scott-Heron. The man was visionary. His poems/songs/spoken word covered topics so brillantly that their inpact and meanings are timeless. His words have inspired a new generation of rappers, artist and social commentators. Yes, like other "great ones," he had his deamons. Still he provided strength, wisdom and hope to millions. He will be missed but never forgotten. ONLY LOSERS LIKE CANADASUX MISS THE MARK!!
