Coroner: Ryan Dunn Died Violent Death

6/21/2011 10:40 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

"Jackass" star Ryan Dunn and his passenger each died as result of both blunt force trauma AND the fire that consumed Dunn's Porsche during the crash Monday morning ... this according to the Chester County Coroner.

Ryan Dunn Cause of Death

The Coroner's Office just released the autopsy results for both men -- who, we're told, were each dead by the time officials arrived at the scene.

Based on the autopsy results, the crash was so violent, it seems it was impossible to determine if the two died from the impact of the crash itself or from the fire that resulted.

Officials say the toxicology results for both men -- which would help determine the role alcohol played in the crash -- will be released in 4 to 6 weeks.

TMZ previously reported, officials believe Dunn's car veered off the highway and crashed in a wooded area Monday morning ... before exploding in flames. Investigators believe speed may have been a factor in the crash.

I always say it's better not to drink and drive, than to drink and drive.

If there were “warning signs” the night of Dunn’s crash, how come the bartender hadn’t cut him off or how come his friends at the bar didn’t call a cab? If he was acting as plastered as people have been saying, how come these things weren’t done? Is it possible he wasn’t that drunk? I still say the crash could have been the result of swerving to not hit a deer or maybe he just wasn’t paying attention. There is a reason why there is an alcohol level limit. You can still get in a car and drive if your under the limit. If he was under the limit, I hope apologies come out from everywhere.

You can get in the car and drive if you are under the limit but you can also get killed from the impairment the 'under the limit' alcohol effect has. This seems to be a real problem for suburban people who have cars. They can't afford a cab and roll the dice.

Wow! Those coroners don't miss a thing, do they. I guess I lose my bet...could've sworn they both drowned.

Horrible way to die. @jpierce whether he had a deer run out in front of him or not, just the fact that he was travelling at that speed is ridiculous. Throw in some alcohol and it's an accident waiting to happen. Don't try to excuse what he did, learn from it. Use it to educate people. Then some good will come of this horrible accident.

How nice. 4-6 weeks for a bought off 'Inconclusive' toxicology result.

The skid marks on the road at the scene prove he was reacting to something. They are swerving & unfortunately end at the guard rail..I don't believe he was drunk, just a gut feeling..

go home!

There are always people looking to blame others for our own mistakes (yes, JPERCE 26 that is directed towards you). What it comes down to in the end is that we are all responsible for our OWN actions. We can't police others, who usually dont listen when people are trying to help them. We are all responsible for our own actions and if we go out in a porsche drunk and speed, dont be surprised when your life goes up in flames.

Regardless of whether or not you liked him or think he was a horrible person, no one should have to die a violent death.

RIP Ryan Dunn and Zach Hartwell

jpierce26,

People are allowed to get plastered at a bar. A bartender is NOT a babysitter. If you've ever been to a bar - there tend to be a lot of drunk people.. it is not unusual.. If he wasn't acting like a lunatic and/or unable to function, then the bartender did nothing wrong in serving him alcohol.

It was Ryan's decision to drink even though he was the one driving that night.

His friend said he had at LEAST 3 beers and 3 shots. Other patrons have said he was drunk. He posted pictures of himself on his twitter where he was sitting with beers.. Other photos have since been released where he looks glassy eyed and blitzed.

Just face it - it is highly likely that when the toxicology test comes back - it will show that he was over the legal limit.

It's a sad case.

But he made a BAD decision which ended up costing him his life and his passengers life.

He is lucky that no one else died from this incident.

Keep hanging in the De-Nile land all you want, but it won't change the facts of what happened.

I highly doubt any apologies will be due about alcohol comments based on eye witnesses saying he had THREE drinks PLUS THREE SHOTS in a 4 hour time span. Sorry folks.... "common" sense tells us NOT TO DRIVE after that much alcohol. Tragic. He drank. He drove. He killed. Error in judgement. I'm saddened that his friends or a stranger or a fan or the BARTENDER didn't TAKE HIS KEYS away from him. That disgusts me.
