Cops: Ryan Dunn Was VERY DRUNK During Crash

6/22/2011 10:55 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

"Jackass" star Ryan Dunn was extremely intoxicated at the time of his fatal crash Monday morning ... with a blood alcohol level of more than TWICE the legal limit ... this according to cops.

West Goshen Police Chief Michael Carroll told the Daily Local News ... Dunn's B.A.C. was .196 ... nearly two-and-a-half times the legal limit in Pennsylvania, which is .08.

Carroll added, "No other substances were found in his blood other than the alcohol."

As TMZ reported, Dunn and his passenger were killed when Dunn lost control of his Porsche, crashed in a wooded area and his car exploded in flames.

UPDATE: Now cops are saying Dunn was traveling between 132 and 140 MPH at the time of his crash.

Tox reports take a lot longer than BA reports. BA reports only take like 20 it said in my comment a page before this.

Are people REALLY that dense that they dont understand the difference between a B.A.C. and a tox screen?

We can get a blood test for alcohol back from our lab in about 30 minutes. It's one of the first things a medical examiner sends off after a motor vehicle death. A full tox screen takes longer because the samples are sent out to reference labs, some of which may be out of state. It may very well be the case that there was more than alcohol in his system.

...WHO need to call me dumb, I never would have asked the question had I known about the coroners identification, missed that, but a polite poster told me, so don't flatter yourself so much, with that said, thankyou for sharing what you do know as fact.

A mistake is tripping over your shoe laces. Drunk driving and speeding are both choices made by JACKASSES.

While there is no doubt that Ryan (and Zach's) death can and should be used as a teachable moment, there is a time and a place for it. Right now, it's time for his family and friends and the Jackass crew to mourn their son, their brother and their best friend. And Ebert still jumped the gun whether or not he ended up being 'right' about his speculation that Ryan was drunk.

And for those of you calling him a murderer - something about he without sin casting the first stone?

No sympathy at all! Regardless if he ‘RIP’ or not he has done an extremely irresponsible thing. Because he is famous you have sympathy for him? Would you have sympathy for a stranger who killed your family member or someone you know? Maybe take a step back and imagine what his family is now going through - they are probably very angry at his stupidly and now have to live with the fact that their son took another life too. Not only was he drunk, but driving at such a speed that they are yet to determine if they died on impact or in the flames that engulfed the car! Idiots.

FYI they are waiting on the toxicology report which takes 4-6 weeks. It could possibly show his alcohol consumption was much higher than initial reading but more importantly, what drugs, if any were in his system.

BTW I can’t believe the BAC is 0.08 in the US. Far too high anyway!

To quote Stephen King "If you go out alone you're a hero. Take somebody else with you and you're dogpiss" Ryan Dunn wins the dogpiss award.

mindful_indulgence: he was a murderer, by legal definition. Cut the stone throwing crap. This is the real world, with real legal consequences, not some fantasy bible camp where we all sit together, read a bible and sing songs.

i'm not sure why all the wringing of hands over this guy. true, it's sad when anyone who isn't hitler or bin laden dies, but "fans" are reacting as if someone who actually contributed to society was wrongfully killed. this guy was VERY DRUNK, was driving on a public highway at over 130 mph (sorry defenders of dunn, but driving 80 on the freeway isn't the same thing: "you mean you've never sped on the highway?" yes, but never 130 mph, drunk or sober), killed his passenger, and from what i can tell, hasn't done anything in his life positive for society. he was without any talents save his apparently high tolerance for pain (a trait shared with earthworms and other lower forms of life). if some no-name "immigrant" did the same as dunn, killing himself and his family, and sideswiped someone you know (but didn't kill them), you would be screaming bloody murder along with a slew of epithets. am i wrong?

...and as far as bam is concerned...what little i ever saw of his "viva" program was nothing more that a jerk of a son constantly terrorizing his woefully pathetic parents. what an awesome dude! you are the man bam! stop crying about your murderous ex-friend. ever think you and your pals sort of set the stage for this to ultimately happen to one of the gang? i do.
