Cops: Ryan Dunn Was VERY DRUNK During Crash

6/22/2011 10:55 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

"Jackass" star Ryan Dunn was extremely intoxicated at the time of his fatal crash Monday morning ... with a blood alcohol level of more than TWICE the legal limit ... this according to cops.

West Goshen Police Chief Michael Carroll told the Daily Local News ... Dunn's B.A.C. was .196 ... nearly two-and-a-half times the legal limit in Pennsylvania, which is .08.

Carroll added, "No other substances were found in his blood other than the alcohol."

As TMZ reported, Dunn and his passenger were killed when Dunn lost control of his Porsche, crashed in a wooded area and his car exploded in flames.

UPDATE: Now cops are saying Dunn was traveling between 132 and 140 MPH at the time of his crash.

@ Rich What is the libelity of the Club serving drinks when he is drunk. Could they be charged for not holding back drinks from him.

A club is libel for serving you when you are drunk. Actually, I believe they can break it down to the bartender themselves as being fined for it and they can be charged with manslaughter themselves. Most bartenders and clubs don't follow the rules cause face it, they want you to buy more drinks and leave bigger tips, but anyone notice how quick the club was to say he wasn't drunk when he left? It's a CYOA bs situation. He should've been cut off way before he got to that point. I know a situation where someone in AC got beyond wasted and tried to get their car from valet and they ended up giving the man a room for the night so he wouldn't drive. Why you ask? Cause they didn't want to get sued.

if he were to kill himself or someone else, just like what happened here.

Its impossible for them to know what his BAC was so fast. They even said it, i feel like they are giving the public what they want to hear. Ryan Dunn just passed away two days ago people still need to pay their respects to friends, family and fans. If it was someone you cared about it would be a different story, come on people.

Ok, I am sick of this you people that insist on talking crap about someone who just died
(no matter the reason) are YOU ******* stupid (that answer is YES). I had a friend who was drinking and the cops thought. Yes he did have a little to much to drink, but it turned out when they actually did the work they where to do that it turned out that the string wheel got stuck and he crashed killing himself. You people that sit here and talk your **** you apparently have had no one to pass away from this kind of problem. You are all wrong in so many ways and keep being this way is just plain ****** UP and this is going to happen to you or a luv one of yours if you don't shut your mouth. CARMA IS A BITCH!!!!!! Or have you heard?

Based off the picture of the road shown on this site: http://bangordailynews(dot)com/2011/06/20/news/nation/jackass-star-ryan-dunn-dies-in-fiery-pa-crash/?ref=latest I'd guess that, since they said Ryan was driving his friend home and that he lived less than 100 yards from the scene of the crash, that at the last second, the friend pointed out that this was his exit and Ryan tried to make it. ... you can clearly see that where he crashed could definitely support the theory.

What is TMZ?

BigCat: At autopsy, cardiac blood (i.e., from inside the heart) is usually drawn. It will survive considerable bodily trauma and blood loss. And no, doubters, it doesn't take weeks for BAC tests to come back. With that estimate, they're just hedging their bets for a complete toxicology screen, which can take longer.

I hope all of you that think the passenger was guilty for getting in the car with a drunk go immediately to a lawyer and get a do***ent saying that if you die in a similar cir****tance, your family shouldn't sue or be angry at the driver. After all you got in and it was just an accident.

19.6% of his blood was alcohol. Think about that.

And since it hasn't been said in a response or two, BAC and toxicology are two different tests. BAC = immediate results, toxicology = weeks.

Two people dying is a tragedy no matter what the cir****tances are. It was preventable but that doesn't make any less tragic, especially for their loved ones. It's sick, sad and disgusting that people are making jokes and writing it off solely because he was drunk. Every single person has made a mistake in their lives and many of you have driven drunk/buzzed but luckily for you you didn't suffer the consequences. Ryan Dunn's mistake was sadly a fatal one but let's not lose sight of what's truly important here: two men are dead and many are grieving that loss. Be decent human beings and respect those that love them by keeping your negative insensitivity to yourself.
