Cops: Ryan Dunn Was VERY DRUNK During Crash

6/22/2011 10:55 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

"Jackass" star Ryan Dunn was extremely intoxicated at the time of his fatal crash Monday morning ... with a blood alcohol level of more than TWICE the legal limit ... this according to cops.

West Goshen Police Chief Michael Carroll told the Daily Local News ... Dunn's B.A.C. was .196 ... nearly two-and-a-half times the legal limit in Pennsylvania, which is .08.

Carroll added, "No other substances were found in his blood other than the alcohol."

As TMZ reported, Dunn and his passenger were killed when Dunn lost control of his Porsche, crashed in a wooded area and his car exploded in flames.

UPDATE: Now cops are saying Dunn was traveling between 132 and 140 MPH at the time of his crash.

What a loser. It's one thing for him to get that car and kill himself. That would be sad. It's a travesty that the passenger had to die with him just trying to get a ride home. I hope this Jackass rots in hell. And those of you who feel compelled to immortalize him can rot there, too.

Shame that drunk drivers like this take _innocent_ people with them when they go. Burn in hell, Ryan.

Not an idiot like the rest of you

Clearly this person didn't value his own life or anyone elses. It's good that only the 2 people that made the decision to drive/ride drunk were killed. That being said, someone should have stopped him. Sometimes we must be our brother's keeper. I hate this "Ah dude, it's cool. Whatever" mentality we have on a lot of issues. Be a real friend and stand up to your buddy. Physically take his keys, Tell him you WILL knock his ass out and send him home in the trunk of a cab. I know from personal experience, when you are drunk, you are often not able to make good decisions for yourself. Anyone who looks at a drunk and says "well, I guess he knows best" is an idiot.

Twice the legal limit (it's when people don't think they are "that buzzed" is when they get the ****iest) going 130+... Is it really still considered an accident? Sad way to go out.

I have lost my 17 year old cousin on her way to the WNBA to a 45 year old drunk driver who sadly survived~~~~ Living and dying like a jackass ~~~DARWIN AWARD. His death should serve as warning to others.

Ebert was right but it's still a cruel thing to say to mourning friends. Someone just died the reprimanding wasn't necessary because i'm sure they already feel bad enough as it is.

Hope this senseless and criminal act by Dunn serves as a huge wake up call to the entertainment industry as a whole. It is time to stop glorifying and rewarding bad, stupid and dangerous behavior.

Dear Chuck,

I find your "ad hominem" attack on me hilarious. According to you, I am dumb because I believe in God and obviously you are brilliant because you don't.

I have two Masters degree and a Ph.D. and you, dear sir, can't spell "religious" correctly or even know the difference between your and you're. Hmmmm....who's the imbecile?

I honestly do not feel bad for him just for his family and the passenger. He drank and he drove. I am just glad that he hit something other than people. Some people think that they are just out of harms reach. i could understand if he had maybe one drink but he put other peoples lives at danger. I feel very bad for the family and friends but not for him he did this to himself.
