Original 'Captain America'

In the New Movie

8/21/2011 10:05 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Reb Brown -- the guy who played Captain America in two TV movies in the 1970s -- feels the producers of this summer's remake violated an unspoken rule ... by not asking him to make a cameo in the new film.

Brown tells TMZ that at one pint ... the producers told his rep they were into the idea of having him make an appearance in the movie. But before he knew it ... he was reading about production getting underway in London without a single call coming his way.

What irks Brown the most is that Lou Ferrigno got to make a cameo in the 2003 terrible remake of "Hulk."

Brown says he'd love to be in the sequel (if there is one) and would take any role he could.

Marvel had no comment, but a source tells us this is the first they've heard of Brown's displeasure.

Lou was in the 2008 Hulk as well so there's that.

Perhaps it's because the tv show is one of the most terrible shows ever aired, and his acting was so terrible that it could ruin a movie, even when used as a cameo.

No reflection on Reb Brown, but those two Captain America Movies were horrible and so-wrong! Plus I thought they did give a little nod to those movies, when CAP (in the new movie) put his shield on the front of the motorcycle. (I had to explain to my family, after we came out of the movie, why I'd suddenly started laughing.)

Man is this dude bitter. All because he didn't get asked to be in the movie. Cry a little more dude. There is no rule that says you get a cameo. Do you really want to see the original revenge of the nerds guys in the remake that's sure to come next summer? i don't think so. I sure don't want to see some has been star after their career is over just because they feel they should be there.

The Salinger version came a few years after Reb. He made two tv pilot movies hoping for a series. The first was ok and the second had some new cast members and Christopher Lee as the bad guy. Not an improvement. No series was made. The motorcycle had special effect sounds that were the same as Vipers on the original Battlestar Galactica and KITT on Knight Rider. I dont think two failed tries at a show 35 years ago means he shouldve gotten a cameo.

The Movies this guy was in were typical crap from the 70's where they take everything that is great about a comic book and throw it out the window and make pure crap out of what';s left. The only thing the 70's movies had in common with Captain America was the name. His Costume was ridiculous, his shield was made of plastic, and the character himself was a whiner who didn't volunteer but was given the super soldier serum by his dad to save his life. The Real Cap was a hero before he ever got the serum, it just gave him the strength to do what he was always willing to do.

Lou Ferrigno was in "The Incredible Hulk", a 2008 Hulk movie that was actually very good, not the 2003 Hulk movie.

Is he going to cry also, just like Adam West who played Batman? Just like Kane Hodder who played Jason? God gave you a mouth so it's best to use it. Therefore you may had a cameo in the movie. Just saying...

I am sorry for your pain Red, I remember the two Captain America TV movies very well from my childhood they both sucked.. you Sir are not a television icon like Lou Ferrigno and in my opinion if anyone were to be asked to have a cameo in the next movie it would be Matt Salinger the actor who played the Captain in that crappy 1990 movie it sucked badly but not nearly as bad as your two films.
