Famous Designer John Galliano

Guilty of Hate Crime

9/8/2011 5:55 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0908_galliano_BN
Former Dior designer John Galliano has been found GUILTY of making anti-Semitic and racist comments in Paris ... on TWO separate occasions.

The court imposed a suspended fine of 6,000 euros -- with the condition that he must stay out of trouble for the next 5 years. Galliano was also ordered to pay one euro to one of his victims as a "symbolic" act.

Galliano -- who has famously designed dresses for Kate Moss and other big stars -- ran his disgusting mouth at two people at a cafe back in Feb. ... and then spewed even more hatred again in October.

Neither case was related to the famous video of Galliano -- which showed the designer professing his love for Hitler at another cafe in Paris.

After the hearing Galliano's lawyer called the ruling a "wise decision" and said Galliano is now "very relieved."

The opinion police are amongst us. Keep your head down, your thoughts to yourself and never ever dare to be yourself. The entire world has gone nuts.

He really doesn't give me the impression that he should be critical of anyone. Just look at him.

You can bet if they were black or Muslims he would have gotten an award. Piss of a Jew just about anywhere, you gotta pay.

Wonder what the French would say if they were exposed to the hateful comments Americans spew regularly everywhere...publicly AND privately?

Hello is anybody in there?

What he said was wrong but to be charged and found guilty for what cames out of his mouth is kind of insane. Future world with the PC police.

The thing that leaves a really bad taste in my mouth about this is that he doesn't appear to have been guarded about his anti-Semitism, therefore people in the fashion industry were likely to be aware, overlooking or tolerating his views. He should have been fired long before and certainly shouldn't have been placed on a pedestal like he was. I'm not keen on the state regulating offensive speech, even stuff I strongly disagree with like this, because I think such laws could be eventually misused to stifle freedom of speech.

This guy seems like a complete douche but when does expressing your opinion mean you are prosecuted for a hate crime. I should be able to tell anyone why I dislike them. Because they are gay or black or asian or indian, it shouldn't matter. It's my choice to say it and look stupid.

Another reason I HATE the cheese eating surrender monkeys. Ooohhh i'm a hater.

Who cares what he thinks? He has an opinion, whether you believe it is twisted or not, and he expressed it. On the other hand, he looks like the person who has to badmouth other people to keep himself from too much scrutiny. He's a rather freaky looking man.
