'Real World' Cast Member Sues

'I Was Raped With a Toothbrush'

A cast member on MTV's "The Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Ruins" claims male members acted like animals during production, in one case raping her with a toothbrush ... this according to a new lawsuit obtained by TMZ.

Tonya Cooley filed the suit against MTV, Bunim/Murray Productions, Kenneth Santucci, Evan Starkman and others ... claiming the two guys "took another male participant's toothbrush and rubbed the toothbrush around plaintiff's genitals, including rubbing her labia and inserting the toothbrush into plaintiff's vagina."

Cooley says it all happened while she was passed out cold ... and cameras were rolling.

Cooley says producers not only knew about the rape, they even replaced the toothbrush, but never told her what happened.

The suit also claims female cast members were stripped of their bathing suits and that male cast members were encouraged by producers to "inappropriately touch female cast members' bodies, including in intimate areas."

Cooley alleges she and other cast members reported incidents of sexual abuse, but show honchos turned a blind eye.

Cooley claims she was later booted from the show after slapping a cast member.  She says nothing happened to the men who allegedly raped her.

Cooley is suing for unspecified damages. Calls to MTV have not been returned.

We made several calls to Bunim/Murray for comment, but each time we called ... the receptionist hung up on us.

If she felt that uncomfortable with the male cast members and knew they were encouraged to mistreat woman then why did she get so wasted she passed out? Wouldn't you kinda want to be on gaurd in that type of situation if it was as bad as she claims??

i waited on this girl several times at my restaurant and no woman deserves this, but she is the biggest BIT%H i have ever met . rude , condesending , loud , crude , bad tipper and a very sloppy eater who leaves a huge mess. the other servers usually fight over the celebrity seating , with this girl , the servers fight over NOT serving her ( if theres a new server , they get her)

There's a problem here

If this is true it is criminal. No person in any situation should be taken or used against their will. Other than that, you have to have a number of screws loose to even consider appearing on a "reality show" so you should proceed with great caution because chances are they're all a bit off.

There's a problem here

Here's another thought: Women were stripped of their bathing suits. What? They just stood there and protested while someone stripped them? Why not fight back and knee a few *********, scream directly into a few eardrums, poke an eye? Maybe some of this is fact-based but a lot of it just doesn't ring true.

If Tonya's allegations are true, both men involved and MTV and its production company should be held liable and she should get her day in court. However, you can't be "raped" by a toothbrush but it would be considered sexual battery under the law.

Ummmm, how many times do we have to tell you not to get drunk, especially around people you don't trust? All that "drink responsibly" just went over your head, huh? You get wasted around other lowlifes and you think they won't do anything to you...right. That's like going to sleep in a small room with cobras in it.

Tonya, stick to your guns and do not let what other derogatory statements are made against you get under your skin. Just remember, you did not consent and it does not have to be penetration with a penis to be rape. It happened to me when I was 14 by my own father. Stand your ground! You will be in my prayers.

We don't know what her lawyer has told her what to say or not to say. I don'*****ch real world, haven't for years. But just because this a a tv show it does not or should not condone rape of either sex. The two "men" who did this to her deserved to be punished. We've come a long way from the time female rape victims were judged by how they acted or what they wore. Many rape victims, women and men, hesistate to come forward quickly due to the stigma that is still attached to victims of these crimes. So until the complete story is released, stop judging!
