Heavy D

Diddy, Wayans Bros. Invited

to Ultra-Private Funeral

11/11/2011 11:20 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Heavy D and P Diddy
Heavy D
will be laid to rest at a very private funeral ceremony in New York next Friday -- and TMZ has learned only a select number of the rapper's famous friends have been invited to attend.

We're told Heavy's family has organized a public viewing on Thursday -- and anyone who wants to pay tribute to the hip hop legend is encouraged to show up.

But the following day, the burial service is V.I.P. only -- and the invite list only includes close members of Heavy's family and dear friends, such as Diddy, Mary J. Blige, a few of the Wayans brothers ... and others.

We're told Eddie F and G-Whiz -- former members of Heavy D and the Boyz -- are also on the invite list.

TMZ broke the story, Heavy D passed away on Tuesday at his home in Beverly Hills. He was 44-years-old.

Oh please, now all these high profile celebs are going to come out of the woodwork publicly claiming how close they were with "brother Dee."

A "rapper" dying early for any reason is not new or news. Many of us who enjoy music have no idea who this person was. Now it's like the real gangsters of the 30s. Lets see just how big their funeral will be to show up the other gangs.

Denver, you must be so young if you don't know who Heavy D was. Listen to all his albums and other rap artists of the 90s...it's not like the crappy music we have today. God I miss the 90s.... Salt n Pepa, Naughty by Nature, Wrex n Effect, MC Lyte, BBD,.....Go to You tube!

So...When did Heavy D become such a huge star??? I don't thin he's had a hit since he did the In Living Color theme and he wasn't that popular even back then...

With the size of his casket the probably didn't have room in the funeral parlor for any more than that.

To the uninformed commenters here, some light. First, he was called early on Heavy D when he was fat. He started losing weight several years ago and was more than 100 lbs lighter when he died. His style of rap was fun and positive, not at all like today's sex and violence playlist. He also was a credible actor. Go rent Cider House Rules. He is relevant because of his talent and creativity.

Y is everyone saying he was 44. He was 47. Also these news outlets says his bday is in March but it's really February. This means TMZ is sleeping too!
