Alec Baldwin Issues

TOTALLY Unapologetic Apology

12/7/2011 2:50 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Alec Baldwin just went OFF about American Airlines, its employees, post 9/11 travel, and the entire airline industry -- and best of all ... this rant came wrapped in an apology.

In his letter, just published on, Baldwin begins by apologizing to passengers on yesterday's flight ... saying, "It was never my intention to inconvenience anyone with my 'issue' with a certain flight attendant." He claims the woman singled him out to "make some example of me."

Baldwin continues ... "It's no secret that the level of service on US carriers has deteriorated to a point that would make Howard Hughes red-faced. Filthy planes, barely edible meals, cuts in jet service to less-traveled locations."

He also claims the industry used 9/11 "as an excuse to make the air travel experience as inelegant as possible."

In his closing shot, Baldwin says many flight attendants "walk the aisles of an airplane with a whistle around their neck and a clipboard in their hands," and make air travel a "Greyhound bus experience."

Best apology ever.

Note to Alec: On Greyhound, you can play "Words with Friends" all you want.

wonder how long it will be before he realizes he made a bad move and his publicist scripts an apology for him to read from a telepromptor.

I notice that AB said they (the airline) lacked common sense and style. But not that they were wrong. Well, if they weren't wrong, they were right. And if they were right, then you, Mr. Baldwin, were wrong. Hoist on your own petard.

But then, AB is a college drop out who didn't actually get a degree (master of fine arts in acting from NYU) until 1994, 20 years after he entered college as a nobody for the first time. Of course by 1994 NYU knew who he was and is anyone amazed he earned a college degree in acting.

Now I know that logic is not part of an acting curriculum, so ask a 5th grader for help with this, and review my first paragraph.

Like way too many actors/actresses, he's a typical example of how they are obnoxious jerks outside their job.

Miss K

Air travel has become inconvenient in order to assure our safety. Those who feel entitled have a problem with authority and that is why flight attendants are now behaving like like strict school marms. I suspect they put up with enough before 9/11 and they are now using this opportunity to reign in all the spoiled brats that they had to smile at before. Just follow the rules and shut up!

I have to agree with him. Since 9/11 these ladies think they're carrying guns and badges and have the authority to write tickets. What happened to the good old days of short skirts, and hot women serving you a free beer on the flight? Bring back the GOOD OLD DAYS!!!!!!!!

Then why don't you buy your own plane. Rules are rules and even the rich and famous need to abide by them. Throwing a tantrum beacuse you can't use your cell phone shows your true colors what an ASS!

Mobile phones harming planes is a myth perpetuated by the airlinesa who can't chrge you exhorbitant fees to use their service if you use a mobile.
Alex is spot on regarding the airline industry using September 11 2001 as an excuse for shoddy service and rude behaviour towards customers. I get this time and time again, but really cringe when I see them treating someone who doesn't travel often like a piece of dirt. It's always the waitresses/stewardesses doing it too, I never see the pilots acting like a-holes, except when they have to back up one of the sensitive little waitresses on the plane.
People in the service insutry need to learn what the word "service" means before getting into it.

This guy's ego is incredible and he's a typical celebrity who is unhinged from reality. When the rest of us are asked to turn off our phones on flights, we do something really crazy and actually comply with the request. It's not that hard. You can live without some moronic game for a few hours.

He is 100% correct. Go Alec!

He was probably out of line, but he has a point. Anyone that has traveled internationally, especially on Asian airlines, has probably seen how much better the service is on those flights and how pathetic the service on US airlines are.

LoL, and this is coming from the same man who called his 11 year old child a "rude, thoughtless little pig". Hmmm... if that is true I can't imagine where she gets it from...

He is totally out of line by keeping his phone on.. For traveling as much as he does, he should know better. BUT he has a point about the flight attendants. Most of them are old and cranky!! If they hate the job so much QUIT!!!! You find most of them in the back sitting in the last seat not doing a damn thing! They think they are entitled to the same pay as a pilot for all that they do... Are you kidding me!!!!!!!!!!! Go to school and get a degree! Pay for all the flight time that is needed in order to get a job with the airlines!!! Freaking whiners!!! Drives me nuts! And that Greyhound comment: I Love it! It is getting so cheap to fly that "you get what you pay for" Like the cattle call airline Southwest! TEAM ALEC!!!!!!!!! p.s. My husband is a pilot for a major airline...
