Lindsay Lohan

Playboy Sales Are On Fire!

Lindsay Lohan definitely gave Playboy their money's worth ... because the issue is selling out all across the country ... TMZ has learned.

According to our sources, newsstands in major cities like New York and Los Angeles have had to re-order the issue multiple times. We're told Playboy is even getting re-orders from cities that usually never order more issues.

Our sources say Lindsay's appearance in the mag has also had an effect online as well ... where the mag has seen a huge increase in subscription sales to their online service, iPlayboy.com.

If only her movies did this well ...

LMAO - Every other news organization on the planet is calling Lindsay's Playboy issue a big fat failure. Fox news interviewed dozens of retailers and every single one said they had not sold a single issue.

Here is a direct quote from another rag:

t looks like Lindsay Lohan does as good of a job selling magazines as she does selling movies. Her issue of Playboy is one of the worst sellers of the year for Playboy. I think they should have known something was going to be terribly wrong when they had to shoot Lindsay a second time. Plus, there was really nothing new or exciting about the pictures as evidenced by the loudest yawn in history when they were released on the internet. If they had not been released, I think people would have been suckered into buying the issue and then probably wanting their money back. FOX did a survey of a bunch of retailers and not one of them had even sold one issue of her cover.

Amidst the holiday melee, shoppers aren’t rushing to pick up their copy of the much-talked about Lindsay Lohan issue of Playboy this week.

It was one thing to see Lohan’s nude Playboy spread when it was leaked on the Internet last week. It’s another experience entirely to see the 10 pages of photos in person in the magazine, which hit newsstands Friday.

But not many consumers are paying for that experience. In fact, interest seems low in seeing Lohan’s intensely air-brushed impersonation of Marilyn Monroe in glossy print. Fox411 spent Friday morning trolling the shelves of newsstands and gas stations from New York to Philadelphia only to be confronted with the same reality at each: Lohan’s glassy-eyed stare peaking above the backs of more family friendly fare, with no one staring back or making a purchase.

“No one has bought it,” was the resounding answer to our query at each stop.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise. Once the photos were leaked, the response to the spread, for which Playboy paid a reported $1 million, were lukewarm across the board.

“I’m not surprised at all. Despite Playboy’s hype, there was nothing particularly shocking or new about this shoot. While these shots may have been slightly closer to full frontal than Lindsay’s previous shots, they weren’t actually full frontal; there was also nothing particularly new about Lindsay dressing up as Marilyn Monroe,” says Lux Alptraum, editor of Fleshbot.com.

“I thought the shots were really boring and didn’t really live up to the promises Playboy had made,” Alptraum added. “If they’d actually gotten full frontal shots of Lindsay, or come up with a fresher, more interesting concept, there might have been more demand for the photos.”

In an exclusive interview with E! News Hugh Hefner himself admitted that he originally had doubts about including Lohan in the magazine and putting her on the cover.

“It really came as a surprise to me,” Hefner told E! “I kind of had mixed emotions about it initially, and then it turned into something bigger than life. “I wasn’t quite sure where she was at in her life, obviously. It depends on whether it’s Tuesday or Thursday.”

The Lohan pictorial was leaked online last week after a hacker found the pictures on a shared computer server. The leak spooked the magazine, which decided to move up their publication date and release the pictures on their own site to try to maximize sales in the wake of the leak.

“Because of the interest & the Internet leak, we’re releasing the Lindsay Lohan issue early,” Hef himself tweeted. Playboy reportedly printed thousands of extra copies of the magazine in anticipation of a rush on it.

The entire roll-out for the Lohan Playboy spread has been mired in disaster. After a travel snafu this week, Lohan was unable to make it back from a Hawaiian vacation in order to do her single interview for the shoot with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. And now that the magazine ha***** newsstands without a ton of fan fare, it appears Lohan won’t be giving any interviews about the spread.

Playboy did not return e-mails for comment on the pace of sales since the issue hit stands.

Seriously, though who wrote this article? It doesn't have the normal TMZ wanna-be smarmy doosh baggery snide comments posing as comedy. Not to mention the untimely joke about her movies not selling well. When she was actually a star, her movies did great, but she hasn't done shizz in a while. This whole article is fishy.

Lindsay Lohan's Playboy Issue Not Selling Well
December 17, 2011 12:25 PM EST

No one wants to see Lindsay Lohan nude in the glossy pages of Playboy, according to retailers. But has her issue been selling badly because no one cares about her or because her photos already leaked on the web?

Hugh Hefner probably thought he would have a best-selling issue on his hands when he decided to have Lindsay Lohan mimic Marilyn Monroe in the latest issue of Playboy, but apparently no one cares to possess a copy of the magazine.

On Friday Fox411 interviewed owners of newsstands and gas stations in various locations to ask whether or not the magazine has been selling, but the overwhelming response was that no one was purchasing it. This very likely has something to do with the fact that Lindsay Lohan's nude photos leaked on the web.

Anyone could see them, so people without a Playboy subscription didn't need to leave their homes to go buy the issue at a store to see Lindsay in the buff. However, it's still kind of telling that no one is buying the issue. Hugh Hefner has been trying to pu***** as a collector's edition, but perhaps society is sending him a message – no one will care about Lindsay ten years from now.

The glossy version of Lindsay Lohan's nude photos might also not be in demand because they were so boring – no one was surprised to see Lindsay posing as Marilyn Monroe again, and she opted against taking any full frontal shots. Lindsay also hasn't been helping to promote the issue – she missed a promotional appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and she hasn't done anything to make up for it.

Perhaps she already regrets her decision like Kim Kardashian did after her appearance in the mag. If this is the case, she should be able to avoid talking about it since she has nothing else to promote that would call for her to do interviews. Hugh Hefner might not end up making a lot of money off her million dollar photo shoot, but he could try to cash in on a future issue – Lindsay did two nude photo shoots, but Hef didn't feel the first one was up-to-par.

If he decided to release those photos in an upcoming issue, it might sell simply because people would be curious to see why he turned them down. So what do you think – will sales start to pick up, or has Lindsay Lohan turned into a bad luck charm for anyone that tries to do business with her?
