NFL superstar Ray Lewis admits he fathered an 11-year-old boy in Florida ... and he's totally willing to provide support -- with one caveat ... he doesn't want the baby mama to get her hands on the money.
According to court documents filed in Florida, Lewis has an ongoing paternity case over his son with a woman named Sharnika Kelly. In court papers, Lewis acknowledges being the father, but the issue of support is slightly more contentious ...
According to the docs, Lewis is hesitant to fork over money to Kelly because he says she has an outstanding judgment against her in a civil case ... totaling over $1,000,000.
In the docs, Lewis says he has "grave concerns about the Mother's character" and feels she'll siphon off money meant for his son ... either to pay off her debt or support her other child ... not Ray's.
Lewis is asking the court to establish a guardianship for his son to manage any support Lewis eventually pays.
Lewis and Kelly had a hearing scheduled for last month, but Lewis had to reschedule because he had a game in San Diego. The judge has yet to rule on his request.

He could always have her killed, like he did his other girlfriend.
He owes over $1mil in child support---presumably because he has paid NOTHING and HE has "grave concerns about the Mother's character". Did I get that right?
that should be the right way to do it - for everybody, too many gold-diggers these days
Sounds like this guy not only is a heckuva lot smarted than most of these athletes with baby mamas and has one heck of a lawyer! Good for him! Support IS meant for the child, not the lifestyle of the mother.
If you can't trust her with your money then you should not have trusted her with your sperm.
Ahhhhh, just have her whacked Ray! Not like you haven't done it before. I'm sure you could probably even hire the same thugs to help you!
I'm going to assume that he recently found out about this child because I doubt this case has been going on for 11 years without a payment. Hence, I think she'll automatically get 11 years back child support since she's been taking care of the kid without Ray's assistance for that long and can use that money however she since siince it's a sunk cost. The guardianship, if approved, can only dictate how she uses the money from present until the child turn 18. Good move on your part, Ray.
Kim, you horribly have Ray Lewis mixed up with Rae Carruth, a former NFLer who's pregnant girlfriend was murdered (baby survived) while he was driving behind her in another vehicle. A car pulled up beside her and shot into her vehicle. The 2 involved in her murder testified he paid them to kill her and Rae Carruth is currently in prison for that crime, not currently walking free on a football field! WTF?
Anyway, I think what he's asking for makes perfect sense in light of her lawsuit! TJ, are you really comparing her character from 11 years ago with her character now? That's just dumb.
Right - didn't murder his GF. This is the Ray Lewis that was involved with the two stabbing murders after a Super Bowl party in 2000, right? While his involvement in that event is highly suspicious, at least I think he is getting it right with this one. The welfare of the child, not the parents, should come first.
No Joao, you DIDN'T get it right. SHE owes $1,000,000 in a separate civil case.
Don't want these problems? Always wear protection or stay abstinent.
