Lauren Scruggs

Nothing Makes Me Smile

Like a Settlement Check

3/31/2012 3:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Lauren Scruggs scored BIG
Lauren Scruggs scored BIG in her mystery settlement over her airplane propeller accident ... at least judging by the look on her face hours after the deal was announced.

Scruggs was photographed out near her home in Texas yesterday ... sporting a big ol' smile on her face ... the kind of smile that says I just got a MASSIVE check.

As we previously reported, Scruggs finally reached a settlement with the airplane insurance company for the gruesome injuries she sustained when she was struck by a propeller back on December 3.

The terms of the settlement have not been revealed ... but there are reports that the numbers got into the millions.

Am I the only one that finds it odd that it just took her hand and left eye? MY 9 year nephew, who has some eye condition where his eyes bounce and he can't fully see, just 2 days ago, stuck his hand in a fan and it tore it all up. This was a tiny fan compared to a propeller. Just seems odd. I would expect much more trauma to the body than just a single hand and eye.....

#14 two cents: Unless you have been through and experienced the loss she has keep your BIG MOUTH shut. All you are doing is showing the world what a DUMDASS you are.

This is a case of 150% PILOT ERROR. My father and brother are both non-commercial pilots and I grew up around small aircraft. One of the first things you learn as a pilot is no one boards or gets off your plane with the engine running! In fact, you should wait until the prop has completely stopped. This is a CARDINAL RULE and most likely the basis for her settlement. Second, it is extremely hard to see the tips of prop blades when turning and in her case, at night, would have been almost impossible to visualize. Third, prop noise would be virtually undetectable over the general noise of the engine. She did nothing wrong, it was a horrible, but avoidable accident if the stupid pilot would have TURNED THE ENGINE OFF before letting her deplane. My heart goes out to her, no amount of money in the world will ever make her injuries or memories go away.

Why should they have had to pay her anything? She blatantly ignored the pilots instructions to NOT walk near the front of the plane. That was reported a couple of months ago! I say if your going to act like a spoiled little princess and do as you damn well please despite the "simple" instructions than you get what you deserve and are entitled to nothing! Period!

Sad what happened to her but it was HER fault. It's wrong that she did something dumb and she can sue and get money. Just plain wrong.

here's the statement!

Fuck Celebrities

She should have been sued for being stupid enough to walk into a propeller.

No doubt she just finished giving the pilot a mile high bj, what other reason is there to give a girl a private flight on a private plane? The parents would rather put the blame on someone else rather than admit their own daughter is not only a slot but a stupid bimbo with no common sense.

There's a problem here

There is a correction here. She was not struck by the propeller; it was she who struck the propeller. The propeller was minding its own business when she walked into its path. Maybe the propeller should have countersued. It's a shame she was disfigured and lost her hand but if she would have heeded the pilot's instructions she'd still be doing an internet blog and we would never have known her name.

This is so stupid! Its her fault, I feel bad for her but there is no money that should have been given to her!

GREAT FOR HER! Whatever the number is nothing can buy happiness. If she is happy then that's all that matters. Sending her my prayers.

This is probably the most attention that she has ever gotten in her so called modeling career. I live in the DFW area and never even heard of her until her accident. After the accident her name was splashed all over the local news like she was a well known local celeb. Um, no. Then her mother started her own post-accident blog telling people what you would think be super-personal moments of the recovery stage pain/recovery/daughter curled up in a ball crying kind of stuff. Including information about how the parents were divorced year ago and got back together at some point, and spent the rest of the blog entries bible thumping, almost in a fanatical way. Last I looked a few days ago, the blog was suddenly set to private. How much you wanna bet they will be writing a tell the gory details/recovery tales "inspirational book" to further cash in? Lock up the once public blog and now try to sell the stories/blog entries.
