Shifty Shellshock

In a Coma

4/2/2012 6:28 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0402-seth-binzer-tmz-ex
Former "Celebrity Rehab" star Shifty Shellshock is currently in a coma in an L.A. hospital -- TMZ has learned.

According to sources, the former Crazy Town singer has been in the ICU since last Thursday and is completely unresponsive. It's unclear what put him there -- but people close to him believe it was drug-related.

Shifty is scheduled to appear in court this week for a pre-trial hearing -- after his February coke arrest. We're told he was extremely anxious about the possibility of going to jail.

Uh

Rehab? 20% success rate? Do you read that here? That number is BS. Bottom line is Rehab is a temporary answer to the overcrowding condition in effect at our crumbling penal system. A junkie is a junkie. Rehab is a joke for junkies.

Surelt the powers that be must conceed the "War on Drugs" isn't the way forward. It's attrocious the way we demonise these people who obviously have a serious medical and health problem. Dr Drews hearts in the right place, I believe he truly tries o help, but the thinking obviously isn't right. People can live for years on a daily dose of Heroin, it doesn't need to be the death sentence that the current laws of thinking on the matter is producing.?It's the illegality of the substances that is the cause of all these problems, it makes the substances far more expensive than they should be, make evil people rich, while destroying the addicts lives, all while society treatsthese people like the devil incarnate. There needs to ba a change of think at so many levels on what must rank as one of the great issues of our time. Hopefully he pulls through.

This is so sad! Wonder what made him use in the 1st place? I feel a lot of people use alcohol or drugs to block pain n suffering they have and don't know how to deal with it? and after-this disease takes over them. Becasue that's what it is a disease that only wishes death and suffering. I hope he gets better..

I partied with Shifty a couple years ago, and man, lemme tell you, this guy can put away the crack and alcohol. He smoked more crack, in one night then I've smoked in my whole life.

Can't blame Dr. Drew for people's downfalls, these celebs see countless other doctors and stay in multiple rehabs without any success. Both the "has been" celebs and the Doc do it for the tv time. Bottom line, you can't help someone who won't even try to help themselves. Shifty made it quite obvious he loved drugs and was always relapsing on that show. This is a sad situation but not a surprising one.

Who are you people? The guy has a serious disease. Addiction kills far more then make it. He is a friend of mine. he was doing amazing. He was clean and looking good in january. Dr. Drew has helped save hundreds of people. Addiction is like cancer. It kills us. I am a recovering addict. I have been fortunate to have been sober for 16 years. I am living proof rehab works. There are 7,000,000 of us in USA. So how about some compassion. The same compassion i would have if a family member of yours had cancer. Addiction is cancer of the mind and soul. We are born with it. So please grow up and move on to attack others please.

I know a lot of comments are related to how "predictable" this situation is....but it is still horrifying to the loved ones involved. Many prayers to his family and friends. I have a lot of faith in Dr. Drew's intentions, no matter what the final outcome may be (which is out of his control, although his attempts are heroic and admirable).
