The Situation

MTV Warned Him for YEARS --

Stop Being a Drunk Mess!!!

4/2/2012 5:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

MTV had threatened to replace The Situation
MTV had threatened to replace The Situation on "Jersey Shore" many times over the past two years due to his excessive drinking -- sources connected with the production tell TMZ.

According to sources, producers from MTV and 495 Productions sat Situation down for the first time while shooting Season 2 in 2010 -- explaining his drinking had become such a problem ... it was making it hard to shoot the show.

We're told Sitch promised to pull himself together -- but it quickly unraveled during Season 3, and producers had to speak with him again ... this time threatening to replace him on the show if he didn't clean up his act.

Sitch agreed again -- and made a concerted effort to reel in his bad habits between Seasons 3 and 4. We're told Situation showed promise in Italy during Season 4, but once the crew got back to the States ... he was back to his old ways. This prompted another sit-down ... and another threat of recasting.

Now, MTV's got the opposite problem -- Situation's in rehab and sobering up completely. As a result, sources tell us 495 Productions is looking for new castmates to add to the show ... in the hopes of phasing Sitch out entirely.

We reached out to MTV for comment ... which insists, "There are no plans to replace the cast of 'Jersey Shore.'"

They should replace the ENTIRE cast. Watching 30 years olds get drunk and try to act like 21 year olds is getting really old. Get some new blood on that show for Christ sake. BORING

RIIIIGHT! Sure they did. They are getting so much grief that they are changing their story. They didn't say SQUAT to him. If they did anything, they encouraged it, not trying to stop him. It wouldn't be Jersey Shore if they weren't falling down drunk, boozing it 24/7 and sleeping with everything that moves. Now they want to recast and get people WORSE than them. Good grief, television sure has gone to the dogs really fast.

This guy is in his 20's, but looks like a 50 year old man. Wear sunscreen, kids.

who cares

This is nothing more then MTV covering their azz in case situation tries to sue them. I guess TMZ is the only one buying this.. It's only a matter of time before these so called stars sue MTV and win millions. They could probably sue just on the grounds they are not working in a safe environment or under safe conditions. Like paying the bill to get these people sloppy drunk to film it and label it as entertainment.

You're kidding, right? Without them all being lushes, they wouldn't have a show! SURE MTV was concerned ... sure, sure. I bet MTV lectured them about casual sex, too - right? *wink*

Wow, they've been telling for years he has a drinking problem, yet they kept paying him hugh sums of money to be that way. They sould have gotten him an intervention after he smashed his head in the wall. Now what will they do while he's in rehab? BTW, send Snookie to rehab, too.

I think Jersey Shore could use some new casting . New faces. The current cast has move forward and got offer for things and really at some point ones gets terid of looking at the same old drama with the same house mates . Time to get a younger sexy crew in
