'Hunger Games' Star

Tricks Grocery Store

Into Selling Him Whiskey

4/28/2012 6:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

Josh Hutcherson took a not-so-cheap shot at a Ralphs Grocery store
19-year-old "Hunger Games" star Josh Hutcherson took a not-so-cheap shot at a Ralph's Grocery store -- he posed as over 21 and got the check out clerk to sell him an expensive bottle of whiskey.

We got this pic of Josh leaving the Ralph's in Sherman Oaks on April 18 with a bottle of Macallan whisky in hand -- which, by the way, goes for $170.

A source tells TMZ ... Josh used a fake ID to score the bottle.

It's interesting ... a few weeks ago we got Josh on camera, grousing, "I think the age to go to war is 18 ... so I think the drinking age should be 18 as well."

A spokesperson for Ralphs tells TMZ, "We strictly enforce all laws relating to the sale of alcohol to minors.  We will investigate these allegations and take any steps necessary."

Josh could be prosecuted and the maximum punishment is 6 months in jail, although in reality he'd spend no time behind bars.  Authorities could also go after Ralph's for selling to a minor.

We reached out to Josh's rep.  So far, no comment.

So this "movie star" probibly just got someone working for minimum wage fired cause he wanted to drink.

HE just showed why 18 shouldn't be the legal age. He OBVIOUSLY didn't think of the consequences to his actions that not only effect him but others.

What a little :bleep:

So some rich kid will probably end up making some slightly above minimum wage employee at Ralph's lose his/her job because he thought it would be awesome to use his fake ID.

And way to go TMZ for alerting the store. F***ing narks. What an equally douche bag move on your parts.

I really don't care that he is drinking OR that he bought booze... but what a bunch of *******s you guys (TMZ) are for probably costing someone their job.. Seriously not an important enough story to cover for that.

just my opinion

that cashier is going to lose their job while he goes off to make multi millions with the Hunger Games franchise. im sure this never crossed his mind as he strolled across the Ralph's parking lot thinking of all the blow jobs he will get as a result of that bottle.

i agree with his sentiment though. if you can go to war at 18 you should be able to drink at 18. i, however, am one of those that believe you should be 21 at war and 21 with alcohol. 18 yr olds lack the mental capacity to participate in drinking and war.

tmz could have just showed him with the booze and not sniched off the store because now the employee is losing their job and it is not their falt because some teens have fake id's that will swipe and come up as legit these days jerks

TMZ, You are DEPLORABLE!!!! You could have simply left the part about the store out of it. Now by making a huge scandal out of this you are going to get somebody fired over something that was not their fault. You people are crossing a line with celebrities. If I was Sean Penn, I'd have kicked your ass too! I hope some celebrity finally finds a way to sue you into bankruptcy, you morally bankrupt ****leeches.

WTF TMZ? Now you guys are narcs? This isn't news. 18 year olds pull this kinda crap all the time but now that you f**kers have gotten involved, not only could he be in serious **** but you have most likely cost somebody their job for selling that **** to him to begin with. Hopefully the employer lets the guy off since there was a fake ID so he believed him to be over 21 but because of the publicity they'll probably execute the poor bastard.

This is not news, this is simply TMZ evolving into a Orwellian Big Brother for celebs. Can't Lindsay Lohan take a **** without you f**kers diving into her septic tank to see what kind of toilet paper she used?

I love how people are all up in arms about how TMZ publishing this story will end up with somebody being fired. Well, yes... and??? If they did something wrong, they deserve to be fired, it's pretty simple. Selling alcohol to a minor is against the law. There's no way around that. If this hard-working person deserves to keep their job, they should have obeyed the law in the first place. Frankly, I'm proud of TMZ for publishing the story because alcohol abuse is all too common an issue for young stars and it should be exposed.
