JOINS PEPSI!

Deal with the Devil?

Michael Jackson's Estate has just made a huge deal with Pepsi -- the company whose 1984 commercial arguably ruined his life, and some say it's a deal with the devil.

You'll recall, MJ's hair famously caught fire during a pyrotechnic mishap while filming the commercial -- causing severe burns on his scalp that led MJ to become a hardcore prescription drug addict ... and that addiction eventually led him to Dr. Conrad Murray.

The MJ Estate feels Pepsi is the right company to join forces with for a couple of reasons.  First, Michael himself worked with Pepsi twice after the incident, once in 1988 and again in 1991, so the singer obviously didn't hold a grudge. And a spokesperson for the estate tells us, "We're here to market the re-release of the 'Bad' album and Pepsi is the most effective place to do it."

But lots of people blame the Pepsi shoot for putting MJ on a drug-fueled path of self-destruction -- including one of the singer's former managers Frank Cascio, who said MJ was introduced to Demerol (a heroin-like opioid) following the accident ... to help deal with the pain.

The Jackson/Pepsi promotion will vary country-to-country -- but will include a TV commercial, special edition cans with Jackson's image, and chances to win downloadable remixes of Jackson's songs.

why are we blaming Pepsi for his addiction? you dont blame the pit-bull that gets out of its yard and mauls a baby, you dont blame the breeder who facilitated the sale of that puppy you blame those in control of the rabid dog, in control of the drug, in control of the access.. and where addiction is concerned, i think you blame the entourage who didnt do enough to get their loved one (and pay check) real help

King of Pop! Michael Jackson headed for the Guiness Book of World Records

Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, is heading for the Guinness Book Of World Records because one billion Pepsi cans with Jackson's image are going to be produced to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the late singer's Bad album, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

The executors of Michael Jackson's estate, John Branca and John McClain, negotiated the worldwide deal with Pepsi. The Michael Jackson Pepsi cans will feature Jackson striking one of his iconic poses against a blue backdrop. Consumers will be able to use their smart phones to scan a code on the cans to download remixed versions of Bad.

Despite the infamous 1984 incident, in which Michael Jackson was burned on his scalp while filming a Pepsi commercial, he continued to have a long-standing professional relationship with the soda giant. "Michael had a long and professional relationship with Pepsi," a source close to the company tells RadarOnline.com. "Pepsi worked with Michael on his Dangerous and Bad tours and he valued the relationship. Anyone that says otherwise is just misinformed. Michael had moved on from the 1984 incident and believed in Pepsi. He wouldn't have done business with the company if he felt otherwise.

"Pepsi plans on releasing one billion cans with Michael Jackson's image. That is just a staggering number and Pepsi plans on reaching out to the Guinness Book of World Records because this has never been done before. The Michael Jackson cans will certainly instantly become a must have for fans and collectors. Michael would have absolutely supported this and loved it."

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Pepsi campaign will also feature merchandise, such as jackets inspired by the original Bad tour, new mixes of music from the album and chances to win tickets to performances of Cirque du Soleil's Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour.

Hey HN!

I don't come here too much these days. Very busy and hate to read the same nonsense from you know who and the gang. But always glad to come on and see my friends like you and Mimi and Phantom.

I don't care what TMZ or anyone has to say about Michael. He was a very talented, generous man and people took advantage of that. He had his demons just like the rest of us do. He was human and never claimed to be anything but.

All I know is that I miss him and the wonderful gift he gave the world the short time he was here.
