Gwyneth Paltrow

Triggers Racial Controversy

after Using N-Word

6/4/2012 10:50 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
breaking news

0604_gwenith_paltrow_on_stage_twitterGwyneth Paltrow ignited a firestorm of criticism after blasting the N-word to her one million Twitter followers this weekend ... while describing a Jay-Z and Kanye West concert in Paris.

Paltrow was rockin out Friday at the "Watch the Throne Tour" ... when she decided to send a twitter pic of herself on stage (above) with the rappers and the caption "Ni**as in paris for real." If you've been under a rock -- or if you're Kris Jenner --  that's the title of a Jay and Kanye song.

The tweet triggered a tidal wave of negative internet buzz ... with fans questioning whether Gwyneth was using the term in a derogatory way. GP later responded unapologetically, "Hold up. It's the title of the song!"

That said, Jay and Kanye did go on to perform their hit song "Ni**as in Paris" a whopping 11 times that night.

This goes to show, just how QUICKLY certain segments of the population are itching to use the "race card". I'm surprised Al Sharpton isn't on CNN right now bitching about it.

Sorry, but I don't get why this is "racial". She was just saying the name of the song. It would have been different otherwise.

The problem is, she is such an egotistical, pretentious, ahole, she has absolutely **no idea** that anyone would be offended because she doesn't live in the real world, she lives in some weird parallel universe where everyone spends their days at the spa and their nights traveling the world in a private jet, while typing out mantras to distribute to the little people of the world, telling them that if they are not paying $75 for a pound of coffee from the rain forest in the most remote region on earth, they are worthless.
Worthless human being.

Isn't this why Jay and Kanye named there song this?
So people would say it and the more people use it the less derogatory it becomes?
It becomes just the title of a song once the wave of controversy dies down.

I don't think it's the people who are offended. It's just the media trying to create something.

I have found that nobody cares what offends me, they only care what offends them, thus I have joined that club. I do not care what offends you, and I will say any and every word that comes to my mind.

Sooo was she supposed to say "Oh yeah African Americans in Paris for real!"?

wow ew

Are you kidding me? If BLACK people would stop using this term with each other as if it's calling each other buddy then maybe people such as gwyneth who for the record has a lot of black friends from what I've seen would not be using it in this casual term. She forgot she's a celebrity that's being watched constantly so even if she uses this as a kind of in the moment statement other f*ckers wont get it or will be fast to jump to conclusion.

I find it so hypocritical that many blacks claim that that word is so hurtful and disrespectful toward them, and that it supposedly evokes within them so many mental images of pain and slavery and vile vicious treatment, yet they use it so casually and so often among themselves, in music, movies, books, ...everywhere as both a good thing ("that's my N i g g A," or "I'm the baddest N i g g a around") and as a bad thing ("you punk ass N i g g a").

Listen, make up your damn minds. If it's so hurtful and disrespectful, then blacks shouldn't be using it either. You can't have it both ways. It's either bad for everyone or it's ok for everyone. Blacks dont own the word.

And if you use it so often to seem cool in music, movies, books, etc, (and in doing so, make a confortable living off of the word) then dont complain if others who may not be black repeat your lyrics, or quote your books, or lines in movies where blacks say ******. Because its YOUR fault why the word ****** has become so popular and used so casually today.
