Aubrey O'Day

I Have Serious

Mental Health Issues

6/25/2012 2:10 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Aubrey O'Day is a certified headcase ... so says one of her doctors, who issued the reality star an official medical document which allows her to bring her dogs on to an airplane.

A rep for Virgin America airlines tells TMZ ... the "Celebrity Apprentice" star was cleared to bring her 2 pets into the 1st class section of a flight this week ... because they are registered as "Emotional Support Animals."

So how does one get emotional support animal clearance? Ya gotta have a doctor write a letter ... stating you have mental issues.

According to the Virgin America website, the airline requires the passenger to produce a letter from a licensed mental health professional which substantiates the guest's disability-related need for the animal to accompany them in the aircraft cabin.

V.A. claims the letter must state that the passenger "has a mental health-related disability" ... and that having the animal accompany the passenger is necessary for his or her mental health.

The nature of O'Day's mental health issue is unclear.  We called the starlet for comment.
O'Day tweeted pics of the dogs enjoying themselves on the flight to San Francisco ... and the V.A. rep tells us she was "incredibly sweet and polite" ... and nothing short of a "great guest."

So far, no word back.

She is hot though. I would hit it and quit it.. but then again, I got enough Alpha in me to completely conquer this mythical beast.

She'd better be careful....being crazy can cause her to lose acting work due to insurance....just saying.

The Real Victim

CRAZY or not …sitting those dogs in the seat next to her was a blessing in disguise. It saved some unfortunate passenger from having to listen to how “GREAT” she is for the length of the flight.

I know of a gal who had a doc do this for her. She said she was traumatized because she was on a plane on 9/11. Supposedly now she has to have her dog with her all the time. She travels (for fun) constantly so it didn't slow her down and she gets to take her chocolate lab along w/her.

This is why no one takes anxiety dogs seriously.

The seat next to Aubrey became available when the rightful owner decided that he would rather sit on the hopper than listen to her narcissistic gibberish for the entire flight.

TMZ--you're usually pretty good about doing your homework....check up on emotional support animals and service animals for the mentally ill. Allowing them on airplanes is covered under the Americans With Disabilities Act. Certainly is a shame if a celeb takes advantage of this but if she truly has a diagnosis then it is permitted by federal law. Hopefully jerks to don't ruin this for normal, sick people. Just please don't make fun of people who need this support and law. There are legit people out there. Thanks!

there is actually a law in california that it is illegal to make some one prove that there dog is a help dog - if some one walks in our restaurant w/ a dog w/ out the vest or id that shows they are certified help dog - it is against the law for any one to ask to prove it's a help dog - or to ask them to leave - it is in the disability laws - and recently walmart was sued and they lost because they ask a man for his dog's id that shows he is certified - thing you are to ask is what is the nature of your disability - and they don't have to prove it - i could see her using that law to her benefit
