Natalie Wood

Death Certificate Changed

"Undetermined"

Natalie Wood's death certificate has been changed from "Accident" to "Undetermined" ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... the L.A. County Coroner filed documents making the change late last month.

Members of Wood's family tell TMZ ... detectives from the L.A. County Sheriff's Department -- which has reopened the death investigation -- paid them a visit earlier today informing them of the change. They tell us ... detectives told them the change was made in part because some of the bruises on Wood's body were inconsistent with death by drowning.

Family members add ... they were told at this point authorities can't prove definitively Wood's death was accidental or the result of foul play. Detectives did tell family members Wood's death was definitely from drowning, but the way she ended up in the water is unclear.

Wood died November 29, 1981 after an alcohol-fueled party on a boat off Catalina with Robert Wagner and Christopher Walken on board.

Law enforcement sources tell us their investigation is still active.

1. This is too bad cuz Chris Walken is a really good actor ...

2. If Robert Wagner was any-kind-of-guy he'd at least have the decency to be buried at Sea...

Good-night.

Everyone was drunk and argumentative that night, but I always thought Wagner contributed to her going overboard.

If she had hand-shaped or oddly placed bruises (e.g., not caused by falling against the rail of the boat), it should have been publicized THEN and both of them plus the boat crew forced to undergo a lie detector test, for starters.

Reopened?
Maybe somebody experienced budget cuts and found a way to sustain some funding to investigate old cases that they won't really investigate but will make money from wages and salary :D

What a babe she was. She caused lots of acne in young boys during her era.

Whatever

Here's what's happeneing... The captains story was changed to sell a book. Now they've re-opened the case? With no NEW evidence??? The original ME did explain the brusing she was caught between the boat and the dinghy. So we're supposed to believe that peoples memories get better with age? This is a farce. Sadly we'll never KNOW what happned but we've already got the most likely scenario and that closed more important cases than this.

California is broke, I hope this does not open up and investigation..alcohol fuel parties on a boat usually don't turn out well. RIP Natalie

I am convinced that she was killed by Robert Wagner- He got away with murder just as OJ Simpson, Robert Blake and William ****tner did---All killed their wives!!!!

I always thought Robert Wagner had something to do with her death. She wouldn't have went in the dingy if she was that terrified of water. Also, he sure got married to that other woman real fast after her death.

TMZ, incorrect info -- the alcohol induced party was on land at a restaurant. They then returned to the Splendor

Everything the police know now, they knew back then. This is a lot like the case of Drew Peterson, the cop whose wife was found dead in their bathtub, and they called it an accident when they first investigated it. Now, years later they're trying him for murder in Illinois and acting like they never knew about all the bruises on her body when they called it an accident. The cops knew all along that Robert Wagner killed Natalie Wood. They just gave him a pass, like the cops gave Drew Peterson when they first investigated the case.

Sure hope no one on this board has a family member die under suspicious cir***stances. I wonder if they would mind if everyone else didn't give a crap their daughter or mother was possibly murdered because time has passed.
