Honey Boo Boo Family

TLC Gave Them

HUGE RAISE

June Shannon, Honey Boo Boo and the rest of the clan got an enormous salary raise from TLC after the second episode and they didn't even ask for it ... TMZ has learned.

Sources very familiar with the situation tell us ... the family received between $5,000 and $7,000 an episode at the beginning of the series. We're told after the second episode it was apparent to TLC they had a big hit on their hands, so network honchos approached the family and told them they were boosting their salary. Our sources would not be specific ... but they say the increase gave them somewhere between $15,000 and $20,000 an episode.

We're also told TLC volunteered to cover various expenses, including a bodyguard/driver for Sugar Bear, who was incapacitated after his ATV accident.

And there's more.  We're told TLC even offered to help the family find a somewhat larger, more secure home, but June refused.  She said she wanted to stay in the house because she makes a big deal over Christmas -- decorating the house for the community.  June is heavily involved in her town.

And one more thing on the money front.  We're told agents have been "swarming" around the family, trying to sign them but June has turned them away.  She says she doesn't want to make money the sole object of the show and she's worried if she signs with an agent that person will talk her into making various appearances that will take her away from her family.

Gotta say ... the family feels like the real deal.

Do these rednecks have brains? the whole family shouldn't be doing less than $1 milllion per episode. Any lawyer would give them a better deal.

It's disgusting that this show is even on the air and that it's on TLC(The Learning Channel) is even worse. The parents on that show and on Toddlers and Tiaras should be locked up and not given tons of money and their own tv shows. Get this crap off TV!!!

This family DOES have a useful purpose - they've got that awful Kris Jenner seething with jealously and I'm loving it!

Like someone in their town said, they are plain, country people. Maybe you don't know people like that, if you're living in a city tenement or something else.

Last year, the money from the show, all of it, was put into trust funds for the four daughters. I imagine they will continue that practice. They continue to live on "Sugar Bear's" salary from his job at the local kaolin (chalk) mine. They do enjoy the perks that the show provides in some of those outings and events they get to participate in.

You should ask how did this family come to the attention of tv producers? The child Alana was in some of those child beauty pageants, on tv, "Toddlers and Tiaras." I'm definitely no fan of those pageants, but I do give the family credit for getting themselves and the child together enough to prepare for the pageants, get appropriate clothes, plan and practice routines for her performances, and get there to support her every time. While it's not my idea of a great childhood activity, it does take planning and sticking to the plan, and some ambition and optimism, all good things.

The child's personality at the pageants made her well-known and so TLC signed them for a reality show based on that.

Now Kim Kardashian came to the public eye because of her notorious sex tape and her huge rear end. That''s all. Yet Kris Kardashian dares to look down on this family? Kourtney Kardashian has now had two children while unmarried, and she has gotten nothing but praise from the media. Yet Alana's sister just had a baby and hasn't received that kind of praise for having sex out of marriage. It is definitely a class-ruled society.

She's baaaack

That entire family looks like they are waiting for the short buses. Maybe the mama can get gastric bypass surgery now that they have more money. Maybe they will be able to get indoor plumbing so they can all shower once a week.

Maybe if they had an agent, they'd know they're getting robbed.

I know some people are going to think I'm trying to be mean, when I say this (it's just an honest observation), I've never seen the show. In photos and clips I've seen of HBB, she looks like she has fetal alcohol syndrome.

What I like about this show is that there is so much going on underneath the surface. These people aren't just acting as rednecks, they are truly being rednecks. Family means more to them than money, and their community means more to them than self pride. I think it is really cool. It reminds me of Jersey Shore but from a different angle. Fake Guidos are as loathsome as fake rednecks, but when you get real people who are down to earth and genuine on a show, it makes it intersting.

This isn't telling you what is wrong with the people on the shows, but with the rest of society that gives people with these images a bad name. I love it that they have more pride in who they are than in their public image, just like on Jersey Shore.

I think they couldn't be cuter for all of their alleged lack of manners and decorum.
