Original Charlie Brown

New 'Peanuts' Movie

Is a 'Horrible Idea'

10/12/2012 4:30 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The original voice behind Charlie Brown is pissed Hollywood is attempting to remake the classic comic strip "Peanuts" into a movie -- telling TMZ, it's a "horrible idea" comparable to a "knock-off band."

56-year-old Peter Robbins -- who voiced Charlie in the 1960s "Peanuts" specials -- telling us, "What's the point? If it's to reintroduce the character of Charlie Brown to a new generation, it's been passed on successfully for 46 years. That's the beauty of it."

Robbins -- famous for voicing Charlie's trademark "AAUGGGHH!!" -- says, "If they were so creative why don't they come up with some new characters."

He adds, "It just seems to me they're trying to steal the thunder of these great classics, and from what I can tell, they're not qualified."

"It's perfect the way it is."

But not every former member of the "Peanuts" gallery is a hater -- the original voice of Pig-Pen (Geoffrey Ornstein) tells us, he can't wait to see it.

But he'll have to wait a while -- it's not due out til 2015. Good grief.

The purpose is to take a well known, beloved set of characters and create a movie designed to further indoctrinate our children into believing in participation trophies, wealth redistribution, tolerance for low class sub cultures, sexual deviants, living on hand outs is respectable, phones/homes/cars/computers/internet/college education is their RIGHT.

In other words it is to infiltrate their minds and continue the de-evolution of American exceptionalism.

They've already done a remake of Peanuts.

The peanut gang do need new materials to keep up with today's cartoons. My mom grew up watching it. I grew up watching re-runs of it, now they need new stuff and remind my kids why we love the Peanut Gang just like they did with the Little Rascles.

I'm predicting that this movie will be awful. My money is on them giving it a pop music soundtrack and horrid CGI.

I totally agree with him. Or at least if your going to do it do it right, and defiantly don't use 3D unless you are pixar / disney Sick of seeing all the classics get cheap makeovers when they could just re-release the originals. Astroboy is probably the worst one remade, and im guessing micheal bay will out do that with not teenage or muntant ninja turtles. smurfs was bad too. The last muppets movie gets my approval, i dislike most of the actors they used and still loved it

It could be done right if they have a new story to tell And it's animated. Keep it chill, slow paced like the old cartoons. not all high octane loud and sped up for the A.D.D. generation. If they're talking Live-Action than it will be crap.

Since they never said where the Peanuts gang hometown was on the show they could modernize it by having it in South Park Colorado and add the cast from South Park in the show.
