Bad Guy from 'Homeland'

Sometimes Terrorists

Are the Heroes

11/13/2012 7:55 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

WE FOUND ABU NAZIR!!! (or at least the guy who plays him on "Homeland") ... and last night, he made a very interesting comment about terrorists.

TMZ came face to face with Navid Negahban in Hollywood last night -- who seems to be a much nicer guy than the Osama Bin Laden-esque bad guy he plays on the hit Showtime series.

So, when we asked what it's like to play such a hated terrorist, we were a little shocked by his answer:

"Depends on how you look at it," Navid said ... adding, "Sometimes the terrorists in other countries are all the heroes."

He's probably right ... but it's a dicey thing to say in the US of A.

For all the people who believe he has a point. Go live in those countries where you dont have freedom of speech and you wouldnt even be able to express a dissenting point of view. And for the person who thinks that America is not a liberator talk to anyone who was in a concentration camp that was liberated by American soldiers in WW2. America liberated them when no one else in the world would.

What do you call a person who disguises himself, sneaks onto a ship and destroys the cargo?

The man is an actor who has to play a "bad guy". How would you prepare to play his role? I wouldn't go at it one sided..."I'm the bad guy here"...I would want to portray it accurately...and that means covering all the bases

When Navid Negahban answers a question about playing a terrorist he might speak of how he approaches the role. He could be saying that he plays the role as the character sees himself (in the same way his countrymen might see him) as a hero. I do not think that the actor is saying that he himself sees the terrorist as a hero, but that his peers at home might see the character that way.
