Voice of Elmo Accuser

I Didn't Lie

I Want to Undo Settlement

11/19/2012 7:00 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

1118-Sheldon-Stephens-kevin-clash-gettyThe man who accused Kevin Clash, the voice of Elmo, of having sex with him while he was underage stands by his story, claims he was pressured into recanting it, and is now interviewing lawyers to help him undo his settlement.

TMZ broke the story ... Clash and Sheldon Stephens entered into a settlement in which Clash agreed to pay Stephens $125,000, but in return the agreement provides the following:

"Stephens agrees that immediately upon execution of this Agreement, his counsel, Andreozzi & Associates, P.C., shall release the [following] statement ... 'He [Stephens] wants it to be known that his sexual relationship with Mr. Clash was an adult consensual relationship.'"

We've learned Stephens has met with lawyers in Los Angeles and told them he was pressured into recanting his allegation and insists he's telling the truth when he says he had sex with Clash when he was 16.

Stephens -- who is now 23 -- is telling lawyers he will gladly forfeit the $125,000  to restore his name.  Stephens is saying he was literally crying during the final negotiations and repeatedly said he didn't want to sign.

Clash's lawyer told us Friday he would have no comment on the settlement story.

Most lawyers at this level bill like $500.00a piece an hour plus expenses. You can ending up winning and paying $250,000 in attorney fees. People settle because its is cheaper then paying a team of attorneys and have a long draw out case. More then likely there was a revocation period and it has passed. So he not going to be able to revoke it. My concern is that if this was real why file a civil case and not criminal? For civil the whole reason for filing is for monetary (money) recovery. If he was passionate about this we would have filed a criminal charges. My thinking is that he either thinks he can get more money or he likes the fame aspect of doing interviews and being on TV.

Ok why 7 years later all of a sudden this man wants to bring these allegations to light? I'm not understanding his actions right about now.

Someone told this guy he got pennies compared to what he could've gotten from both Clash and PBS. That's all this is about.

Guy is getting greedy perhaps. I wonder if he tried blackmail before this all came public? Anyway 16 is legal age to give consent in many jurisdictions so I hardly think voice of Elmo guy is a creep.

This MAN has mugshots and rap sheets on Smoking Gun and arrest files sites online. One for robbing man for nearly twice $$$ he scammed Kevin for. This originally was intended as extortion threat to out Kevin. Kevin halted that by outing himself to prevent further damage because pedophiles have put suspicion all gay men AND Elmo is an icon. Way to go Kev !!

I'll bet his LA lawyer is Gloria Allred. I'd be really surprised if it isn't.

Again, why aren't the authorities looking into this? If the kid is telling the truth there might be others out there, if its a lie, let the truth be known, a crime happened here, weather child molestation, blackmail or BOTH. You should not be able to get away with it just because your checkbook can afford it.

Sesame Street dropped the ball when they met with the man in secret meetings INSTEAD of calling the authorities. Why not error on the side of the children and allow a fair investigate prove who's the real victim

Explain to me who place the pen in his hand, contract in front of him, grabbed his wrist, and wrote his signature on that contract multiple times then. For someone to force him (against his will), at 23 years old, to sign a contract stating he lied about the age in which he entered into a sexual relationship with someone is rather dubious.
I have a feeling that this is more about him wanting more money than it is about him worrying about his credibility and integrity.
A few questions I have about this case. Did Clash know Stephens' age when the relationship began? Did Clash know Stephens' age when the relationship turned sexual? At any point did Stephens' lie about his age? What was the listed age on Stephens' ID at the time the relationship turned sexual?
If he was under duress at the time of signing the contract, which it sounds like thanks to his description of him bawling during it, the contract would be nullified and would not be required to uphold his end of the bargain.
Who were present during the signing of the contract? Who ended the relationship? Prior to the relationship beginning, did either party enter into another homosexual relationship? After the relationship ended, did either party enter into another homosexual relationship?

Personally, I think he did sleep with this boy when he was underage. I just don't know what's the purpose of bringing it up now. If it's not for money, what for? What does he want? Does he want him to go to jail? I'm confused.
