Aussie DJ

Bragged About Royal Prank

BEFORE Nurse Suicide

12/9/2012 2:17 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

1209-royal-mel-greig-tmzThe Australian DJ who pretended to be Queen Elizabeth II in a prank phone call ... BRAGGED about her accomplishment on Facebook ... right before the nurse who answered the call committed suicide.

TMZ obtained a screenshot of Mel Greig's Fbook page taken Friday evening in Australia ... a.k.a. BEFORE news broke that Jacintha Saldanha -- the nurse duped by Greig and her co-host -- had been found dead in London.

The post reads ... "Why is it that I can impersonate the queen to get private royal information but no one believes I'm the queen for a free champagne whilst out?"

Greig attached a pic to the post -- of herself and another chick, smiling and hanging out at a bar.

We reached out to Mel's rep for comment ... who said (again), "No one could have ever predicted the tragic sequence of events that followed the prank call."

As TMZ previously reported ... Greig and her co-host Michael Christian shut down their Facebook and Twitter pages immediately after the nurse's death -- and suspended their gig at the station.

Isn't it against some law to be trying to obtain personal health information about anyone? What about those privacy laws? I know the hospital isn't supposed to give out the information, but at the same time, doesn't the person trying to get information they are not supposed to have bear some burden?

On the one hand, society is spouting love and sharing, yet on the other hand they are glorifying pranks and bullying while at the same time trying to pretend they are against bullying. Prank shows are all over tv now and I find them juvenile and disgusting.

Seriously, of course they bragged. It was a good prank, until that lady killed herself. It's not like they knew she was going to do that. I am shocked by how many people want to blame the DJs like they should have foreseen this.

Fact: the DJs "pranked" the nurse. Fact: the nurse was ashamed and humiliated. Fact: the nurse killed herself Comment: why was it funny to impersonate a family member to get personal medical information about a sick pregnant woman? Why was that supposed to be funny? What is she had miscarried? Would it be funny then? I don't get it. Are Australians that stupid? Do they find medical misfortune funny? Are they all *******s? All signs point to yes. I have never seen a funny Australian, seen a funny Australian movie, seen any Australian stand up comedy that was funny. I've seen a lot of crap come out of Australia. Maybe they are earths *******!

Yeah, and?! She should have been bragging about it. That was a funny prank. It's unfortunate this woman was so unstable that she killed herself, but not the DJ's fault. The woman was ill.

She had nothing to do with the nurse's suicide, it was an innocent prank. Anyone who is self-righteous enough to blame her, take a look in the mirror. You've NEVER played a joke on someone? This girl is innocent and just having fun, leave her alone!!

Of course she bragged - it was a hilarious prank. It's a little glib for you guys, who make fun of people everyday, to be so lofty about it.

So many people laughed at the time..... see The View anyone? It was harmless, it was a prank, and you can't blame the DJs or the radio station. It's social media and it's what people want and expect today. Is it right? Probably not, but these 2 people shouldn't be targets.

Crank Yankers. The Jamie Kennedy Experiment. Fonejacker. Trigger Happy TV. The Tom Green Show. Scare Tactics. Da Ali G Show. Punk'd. Candid Camera. Ever watch one? Find it funny? Then get off your high horses! The DJs should not have Invaded the dutchess' privacy, yes, but they clearly thought they wouldn't get through. The woman who killed herself obviously had other issues going on and these two cant be blamed. Would you suddenly decide to kill yourself over a silly prank if you had 2 kids and your workplace was supposedly being 'supportive' about the matter??
