Manti Te'o Scandal

1/20/2013 9:30 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

0120_RONAIAH_video_2Ronaiah Tuiasosopo -- the man who allegedly spearheaded the hoax on Notre Dame football star Manti Te'o -- has finally come out of hiding ... surfacing at his family home in Palmdale, CA on Saturday evening ... TMZ has learned.

Ronaiah was wearing a hoodie and tried to hide his face. He also didn't utter a single word when asked about his role in the hoax.

Just 24 hours before Ronaiah appeared in public, Manti had told ESPN ... Ronaiah had reached out to him -- confessed to the prank -- and apologized.

According to Manti, Ronaiah was the person who created "Lennay Kekua" -- who Manti believed was a real person ... and "dated" ... even though they never met in person.

Of course, the whole thing was a hoax -- Lennay never really lived ... or died from cancer on September 11.

Manti claims he and Ronaiah were simply acquaintances -- and insists he was only a victim in the hoax and not a co-conspirator.

The other man and woman who was involved with Ronaiah should also be exposed and all three should get bad press for a long time.

It is bad enough to try to defraud someone into paying money for hospital bills. Luckly he never gave out any financial information. Now these creeps want to meet him in person. This Ronaiah is a stalker. What is he looking for a punch in the face now so he can sue and get money that way?

Defrauding people for money is a crime. Somehow the victim is in trouble over it instead. This happens all the time on dating sites. There are many people who have even committed suicide when they found out the person they sent money to was a fake.

You can learn more about this by websercing N i g e rian dating scam. It is sad how many people are routinely fooled.

No one, even TMZ, has realized that there was a semi famous football player with the same or similar name to Tuiasusopo. I wonder if that's of any relevance.

This story isn't as crazy as it seems. I've been an online gamer since way back and I've seen people meet online and grow very attached to someone, sometimes even get married. When you think how busy this young man must be irl, an eRelationship doesn't seem so far-fetched. In hindsight or to the worldly does it seem weird? Of course!! But he doesn't seem like a streetwise guy. He's a kid that has done nothing but sports and school since he could talk. I'm just surprised the scammers aren't from the Phillipines, like most seem to be.

This whole fake girlfriend story is creepy and only semi-believable but if it is true that that other guy was the one in charge of this whole thing and that college football guy was really thinking this was a girl and typing cybersex with her that other guy could make a fortune selling the transcripts to vulture celeb sites like this. I would hate to see that but I would read ever word. Trainwreck. I still don't think this is all there is.
