Catherine Zeta-Jones

Enters Treatment Center

For Bipolar Disorder

Catherine Zeta-Jones has checked in to a treatment center to get more help for her Bipolar disorder ... TMZ has learned.

We've learned ... the 43-year-old Academy Award winner checked in to the treatment center Monday ... and is expected to complete a 30-day program.

Sources connected to the actress tell us ... Jones' stint in the treatment center is a proactive measure. As one source puts it, "It's maintenance."

FYI -- Jones completed a stint at a treatment center in 2011 -- at the time, her rep said Catherine had "made the decision to check in to a mental health facility for a brief stay to treat her Bipolar II disorder."

Zeta-Jones was last seen in public on April 22 -- when she hit the red carpet at the 40th Anniversary Chaplin Award Gala at Lincoln Center looking healthy ... with her husband Michael Douglas by her side.

She's been pretty honest in the last few years about fighting bipolar disease. Maybe she's on a bad swing. I'll give her a lot of credit for understanding when it's getting ahead of her.

Yeah, seems fishy. Rehab for Bi Polar? I think it's something else too. Strange.

I think people are so used to seeing the lame PR excuses for celebrities being hospitalized (dehydration, exhaustion etc) that everybody just assumes it's substance abuse when a story like this comes out. But, c'mon people, there is such a thing as a mental health facility where people receive treatment specifically for psychiatric problems.

TMZ: You can be part of her healing or part of her problem.
Let her dignity help in her healing.
And let her be a lesson to others in seeking help
Do not allow TMZ to be the lesson in tawdry topics

Just goes to show that having all the money in the world is no match for that computer in our heads. Mental illness is not uncommon at all, and anyone who writes about it being a "rich person problem" doesn't have a clue.

She goes thru a lot . It probably doesn't look it on the outside, but she's trying to be strong for her sick husband around the kids, and when you have to carry someone you love, you don't mind at all, but what she's doing for the extra support is very smart.Everybody needs a good cleaning occasionally. Emotionally.

I wish her all the best in her struggle. I'm sure that it's not easy to have a mental illness.

Don't feel too sorry for Catherine, at least she won't be lonely in rehab....half of Hollywood will be there with her.

She's not going to rehab like a lot if morons think. They are called treatment centers aka private psychiatric facilities which do usually have a substance abuse section being that addicts are often people with MH issues self medicating. She did not come out with her issues she was forced to when someone awhile back put her private business out there and instead of denying it she wanted to try and break the stigma of MH.
