Emmett Till Family

to Lil Wayne:

THAT'S NO APOLOGY!

5/1/2013 3:44 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0501-emmett-till-lil-wayne-gettyLil Wayne's "apology" to the family of civil rights icon Emmett Till was NOT REALLY AN APOLOGY ... in fact, it fell way short ... a rep for the Till family tells TMZ.

Earlier today, Wayne fired off a letter to the Tills ... to "acknowledge" the hurt he caused the family when he compared Emmett's violent death with the violent way he has sex with women.

Nowhere in the letter did Wayne say he was sorry for what he did.

Now, Airickca Gordon-Taylor -- Executive Director, Mamie Till Mobley Memorial Foundation and Till Family Representative -- tells TMZ the family does not view the letter as a formal apology.

"While it’s commendable that he has vowed to respect the legacy of Emmett Till and his memory to ‘not use or reference Emmett Till or the Till family in his music,' this statement falls short of an apology, as none is mentioned."

We're reaching out to Lil Wayne for comment -- stay tuned.

Had he compared his ugly ass face to how violent he perform sex would have been more believable. What woman who has her sight would ever let someone this ugly touch her and not feel a violent crime had been committed because see had to look at him. To consumers who purchase music, please stop supporting this punk. I'm hoping people will stop buying and listening to his music and maybe he'll go crawl back under the rock from where he came.

I'm so glad they are saying this, it absolutely was not an apology. That disfigured piss-ant needs to acknowledge the severity of what he said. The ignorance is so glaring it gives me a headache. Boycott this maladjusted, uneducated, baby-making, vomit inducing, excuse for an "entertainer".

What happened to "Little Wayne" character? I've never heard of him, but he looks like he was in some kind of horribly disfiguring auto accident or something.

... also, isn't he a little old for braces?

Martin Luther King is probably rolling in his grave. To all of the fools out there - lil wayne saying that he recognizes a families hurt is not an apology. What you said should never have been said in the first place. I don't know what is more stupid, lil wayne, or the fools that follow him. You're going to beat that ***** like white men beat your own people??? One thing money can't buy is class and intelligence. Stay off of the cough syrup dumb ass.

He has no idea what he did ten minutes ago much less in the recent past. Fine him all his money and put him on an island with the other jerks that roam around these tabloids now-a-days. NO publicity or public contact...that is the soultion.

It seems Lil Wayne doesn't even know his own heritage... anyone who says Lil Wayne doesn't own his family an apology is showing their ignorance for what really happened to Emmett Till.

Lil Wayne doesn't even know his own heritage. Anyone who says LiL Wayne doesn't owe the family an apology is obviously ignorant of what happened to Emmett Till.

In the last year i finannly heard about 3 interviews with Wayne and i now think the dude is close to retarded. Acts like a child, he acts about the same as my brother who is mentally-ill and is below average intelligence. Don't expect a legit apology from someone like this and don't ever expect them to understand what they did was wrong they are too retarded to be "wrong."

You need more help than "Lil Wayne". God help you both, because only by His son Jesus can you be forgiven and/or judged for your folly. I hope you are not a parent.

Why would you want an insincere apology? Anyway, apologies are meant for mistakes. They are not an escape route for bad behaviour.

Reading these responses from my black brothers and sistas makes me proud to know that we haven't lost our sense of heritage and respect for our history.Less than 50 yrs ago we we were fighting for civil rights when we didn't even have human rights in this country. For Lil Wayne to disrespect a chapter of black history means he has no respect for black history as a whole and all our people has been through.People like Lil Wayne is only concerned with selling records and will say anything he can think of to do it even if it calls for disrespecting those who died in the struggle for our freedom, equality and dignity. What's sad is that ignorant people who got a chance to listen to that verse might have thought it was funny simply because they were too ignorant to know how significant that incident was to Black History.I'm proud to see many of you who commented on this article know enough about Black History to know this was offensive.
