'Game of Thrones' Throat Cut

Totally Unrealistic

Says O.J. Simpson's Witness

6/3/2013 10:45 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

"Game of Thrones" is portraying throat-slashing ALL WRONG ... so says a forensic expert from the O.J. Simpson murder case -- and he outta know.

**SPOILER ALERT  -- IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED LAST NIGHT'S EPISODE, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED ... but you should probably watch it asap **

When Catelyn's jugular was sliced at the Red Wedding in last night's episode ... her blood SHOULD NOT have cascaded out of her neck ... it should have sprayed like a hose from 1 or 2 important veins.

At least according to Dr. Michael Baden -- a board-certified forensic pathologist who was a defense witness at O.J.'s trial and also worked on the government investigation into the JFK assassination.

"Just by chance I walked in during the scene when everyone was being killed," Baden tells us ... explaining, "Blood doesn't come out like that."

"If cut deep enough, the right and left carotid artery will spurt a few feet, just like a hose .... not this broad blood-flowing out like a waterfall from the whole neck."

He adds, "There would have been squirting from the right or left carotid artery, carotid arteries spurt.”

Baden also says ... the victims wouldn't have died so quickly ... because death from a throat slashing, "takes much longer than that."

... and now you know.

A pretty silly comment....considering it's a TV show. Why don't you write about how the dragons were flying inconsistently with how they fly in real life....oh wait.

Did they go ask him or did he call them?

It was a powerful scene, done very well.

Hollywood is NEVER real and always sensationalized, who is he kidding.

You ever see someone using a mouse at a keyboard? No. NEVER. Because it's much more dramatic for some imbecile to pound away at keys and make noise, even when using Photoshop.

(Gotta love the cop dramas with sketch artists ... "A little thinner around the cheeks, bigger goatee, with side burns" as the tech is pounding on keyboard keys and dramatically kits the ENTER key just as the detective declares "That's him!")

The picture pretty much makes the spoiler warning useless. Way to spoil the episode I was planning to watch tonight. TMZ has a bad track record with spoilers (Ruined Shutter Island for me too)

I haven't liked Dr. Michael Baden since after I watched him testify for the defense at the first Phil Spector murder trial.
Baden did everything he could to try to get Spector off-including giving false testimony. Jerk.

Yes, the gross forensic details of violent death are something we all need to know. Welcome to the era of dark millennial entertainment meant to condition young nutjob minds.

The title and video still gave the spoiler away.

What's the point in putting in a spoiler warning if you have a big picture showing us exactly who get's their throat cut just below it ?

I personally wasn't watching to see how the blood squirted. The shock of the episode kind of overpowered that. Is this training day at TMZ? Pretty lame stories lately. This is my first time back in a bit, and it sucks more now than before. Bye, TMZ!

It's better if such scenes are NOT realistic.
