Aaron Hernandez

Jersey Exchange Program

Mobbed

7/6/2013 8:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

070613_aaron_hernandez_launchHundreds of New England Patriots fans lined up outside the Patriots Pro Shop today to exchange their Aaron Hernandez jerseys, and one thing was clear ... they wanted NO part of the accused murderer.

According to ESPN's Adam Shefter, more than 500 Hernandez jerseys were returned by 11:00 AM ET, which was just 90 minutes after the program opened.

TMZ spoke with a few people who waited in line to turn in their jerseys ... a few of whom had bought the jerseys for their kids and wanted to exchange the AH ones for players who were "a better role model."

As for the idea that Hernandez jerseys are big sellers on eBay, as one Pats fan put it ... "that's bad karma."

When are people going to learn to be their own kids role models instead of turning to athletes.

Well isn't that nice, ppl don't want anything to do w this guy who BTW hasn't been convicted yet but Michael Vick has been accepted w open arms by these very same NFL fans!! I guess torturing, drowning, electrocuting and all the countless other despicable things MV did to poor defenseless dogs isnt awful enough for these idiots who to take a moral stand...shame on the NFL, shame on all of you!

ProFootballTalk (dot) com is reporting that the total was 1200 by midafternoon. They also reported a couple of days ago that most of the jerseys that had several hundred dollars of bids on EBay are actually not being sold at all because the 'winning' bidders are refusing to make payments as a group.

What they don't understand is that the stores will sell them on eBay for a huge profit. It's like people showing up to trade iPhone 5's for old iPhone 4's.

Nice best decision the NFL has made. I heard they are considering banning academically ineligible players...
