Cowboys Players Sued

Our Son Almost Drowned

And It's Your Fault

9/24/2013 6:25 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Three Dallas Cowboys stars are personally responsible for a boy nearly drowning at a football camp this summer -- at least according to the kid's parents who are now suing for at least a MILLION BUCKS.

The parents of 13-year-old James Jackson Jr. filed the suit against Miles Austin, Anthony Spencer, and Brandon Carr ... claiming it's their fault James nearly drowned during a football camp held at the University of North Texas, and bearing Spencer's name.

The boy reportedly sank to the bottom of a pool -- while there were roughly 125 other kids in the water -- and had to be pulled out, given CPR, and taken to a nearby hospital.

Now his parents are pointing the finger at the players and the company that organized the camp -- claiming it was their responsibility to hire better lifeguards, and make sure the pool was safe for swimmers.

The lawsuit doesn't specify the boy's injuries, but says he suffered mental anguish, disfigurement, and physical impairment.

We called Cowboys HQ for comment ... so far, no word back.

Money, money, money. The child is alright and it was an accident but none of that matters when the parents think they've hit the jack pot. Whenever anything bad happens now people stop attributing it life and experience and start asking who will compensate them. I wonder who the Donner party would sue these days.

were there life guards at the pool?
Not saying these guys are on the hook but someone should be for the boys medical bills. If the kids ok no harm no foul pay the medical and move on. If the kids truly screwed up for life then im sure shes going for big bucks

This kid is 13 and cannot swim....??

If the kid couldn't swim then he was old enough to know to stay out of the pool!

I am not sure what kind of pool accommodates 125 kids at one time, but that sounds pretty darn dangerous. I can swim fairly well, but probably not in a pool of over 100 kids.

Let me get this straight. There were lifeguards there and their son was saved, but they needed better life guards? Yeah, sounds like a money grab to me. What a fine example they are setting for their child.

This will only cause these players, who by-the-way meant well I am sure, to rethink doing things for these kids who could benefit from this kind of experience because they won't want to be sued.

It's hard to form an opinion without knowing how badly the boy was hurt. If he's brain damaged, then maybe I can see the case for a lawsuit. If he's just fine, then shame on the parents for throwing around words like "disfigurement and physical impairment". There are victims of fires, car accidents and war veterans who actually meet that description.

The typical attempt to score some free loot. It's become the American way...sue, sue, sue.

Maybe they should sue themselves for not teaching their 13 year old kids to swim already.

It would be nice if TMZ maybe went the next step and reported on whether or nor the kid sustained long-term damage which would make a huge difference in the law pertaining to damages. As usual, incomplete reporting - not saying TMZ is CNN, but a complete story would be helpful.
