Michael Douglas & Ex-Wife

Sorry, Your Son's No One Special

10/8/2013 12:00 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Michael Douglas and his ex-wife, Diandra have just been derailed in their effort to see their imprisoned son -- ironically derailed by a group that fights for prison reform ... TMZ has learned.

Cameron Douglas is currently serving time on drug charges and prison officials are not letting visitors see him -- including his parents.

Diandra has been enlisting Hollywood celebs to sign a petition posted on -- a petition urging prison officials to let them see their son.

Her campaign was picking up steam but suddenly it disappeared from the website with no explanation.

We did some digging, and contacted the Drug Policy Alliance, which actually spearheaded the petition drive.  DPA officials told us they had a change of heart ... the sentiment was that it was unfair to help individuals and not focus on the big picture of prison abuses.  It seems there was also a feeling that it didn't look good to help famous people and not everyone else.

So Diandra and Michael are back to square one.

Really? what an overbearing blow hard, I hope this keeps him from seeing his son even longer than they had planned. The "Oh I'm a star tactic" is offensive to everyone in this country.

The son was in prison for dealing. And even behind bars, he still didn't stop. It is his own fault he cannot have visitors. When do people have to accept the consequences of their actions?

I'm thrilled to hear this. The son has apparently committed multiple prison infractions during his time there. He's no better than any other inmate who doesn't follow the rules. No sympathy here.

Are we talking about "special privileges" for Dad, because, he's noteworthy? A public figure who doesn't want to stand in line with common folks? My son went to prison in California on drug charges, and, the paperwork needed to visit him was a bit overwhelming, and, invasive. I didn't see him for 6 years. My paperwork was returned as "incomplete", not what "their" records show. Oh well, it is what it is! The Ca. Department of Corrections is it's own little Kingdom. Nobody tells it what to do! That's why Gov. Brown is the intermediary between them and the Federal Courts.

Sorry Michael if your kid is aspoiled dirtbag and uses drugs let him stay in prison and deal with his bad behavior. No reason he should get special treatment

Are you serious? This has nothing to do with being famous, this has to do with your supposed to be able to have family and friends visit you in prison, they have days for this. This isn't being special, it's being that other inmates have family /friends visits, why not him! Now I think he's being targeted because of his famous family/Dad. My brother has been in the system since juvenile hall, jail and then to prison, and we got to visit him regularly and I understand how Dad would like to visit his son. I think I got the jist of he was doing drugs behind bars and is in lockdown, something to that effect, fine he's locked down but at least once a damn week let him have a visit. I guess lockdown means that's your punishment no visits but it's been going on I think 2 years now. I think it's messed up no visits.

have to wonder why they wont allow him to see his parents? If anyone should be allowed to visit someone in prison, it should be the parents. no matter the celebrity.
